I bought some sound deadening and a roller. I plan on doing all for doors this weekend. Any tips?

Take your time. Dont do it on a super hot day and wear some gloves to work in. Plan for sharp edges (not so much in the doors). It took me more time cuz I have OCD to do the sound mat than it did to install my 6x9's to the factory speaker mounts and solder everything.

hard to say since I changed the speakers too. But when you close the doors it sounds really solid and different from the back doors. The KilMat will stick to pretty much anything unless its got grease or something on it. When I did my install it was 45* outside. But now that my rear bulkhead and doors are done I want to do the whole truck.. lol

Depending on if you cover the holes in the back door. If you do you’ll need to make a relief in the mat or trim the door panel foam like I did

It doesn’t require 100% coverage. Flat areas in the metal where there’s no stamping details should be your focus - these are the areas that act like a drumhead and vibrate the most. I put a strip on the underside of the outside sheet metal to include behind the door speaker and then tried to cover as much surface as possible. The rear doors required intentional “relief” - note the plastic covering the large hole is loose - this allows the foam piece to stick into that large hole. I also bought the two types of clips used for the door trim. The little compressible white ones usually stay in metal of the door and you should remove them with needle nose pliers and put them back on the door trip piece before reattaching the door. Each door also has a little round black button that you just push the center of it and it pops out. When you go to put the door trim back on you “hang” it from the top of the metal door where the window comes out of the door - the opposite is also true so to remove the door trim pull off the bottom and lift the top up. There are very good YouTube videos out there. I can get the doors on and off now in less than a min.

I thoroughly sound matted all 4 doors, the floor as well as the back wall. I still have the crap factory JBL system in my CM, but am about to swap it all out. What I can say, thus far, is that the base on the crappy factory door speakers sounds much deeper (I matted both the inside of the exterior door skin, as well as the panel that the speaker actually sits in). Yes, doing two layers on each door is probably a tad overkill, but it does make a big difference. The door is noticeably heavier but has a nice, quieter sound when closing. I will report again once I have the new system installed.

How much Kilmat did you use to do all the doors inside and out?

You’ll need about 40-50sf for the doors.

I have 2 boxes (36 sq ft each) = 72 sq ft coming sounds like I need one more box to do that back of the truck behind the sub and the rear floor of the cab.

I did 4 doors and the rear of the cab and it took about 1 3/4 box. Make sure you roll it out good.

I came from a 2019 Ram 2500 Limited and when you shut the doors they were solid and they even put new glass in them to minimize road noise.
So I hate it when I shut my doors and they sound like a tin can. I can’t wait to eliminate that with the Kilmat.

I did all 4 doors completely lining the inside of the outer skin and most of the face of the cab facing panels, also did the back wall and about 2 feet of the back floor coming out from the back wall. Started with 2 36sf boxes and still have a few sheets left.
