Curious if anyone else has had this problem also....

While listening to FM radio(only happens with this). The sound will occasionally and randomly go real low, like it's only coming out of a couple speakers instead of all of them. Then after 5-20 seconds will go back to normal. I haven't tried different stations but the station I listen to is very local and reception is definitely not the problem.

Hope that makes sense, Sorry its hard to explain really.
I have not brought the issue to the dealer yet because 1. I'm not a big music snob and 2. I don't really want to drive a loaner while someone tears my dash apart

I have that problem with my sound bar at home (I know not the same but the sound bar is wireless) and the only thing I can attribute it to is the source signal.

I'm gonna test some other local stations and see if its just isolated to that one station

Do you have an amp? It may be possible the amp is going. My SC400 does this same thing with the radio, when it rains, or rough bumps it will cut out the rear speakers or drop the volume extremely low... granted its old AF, but the problem may be similar... Tape (LOL) and CD player audio work fine...

check your build sheet?? if you still have the paperwork... I'm unfamiliar with the newer audio system as mine are ancient, but maybe check your settings in the audio menu??

Is is the JBL system? I haven't had any issues other than crappy performance.

This happens when you go and out of a High Definition (HD) radio signal. The HD is loud and crisp and when it goes out it's low and distorted. This will happen with any FM radio that has HD radio. Some aftermarket radios have an on/off for HD.

Hmmm interesting, thanks for the response. Like I said I'm def not a music person or high quality radio guy, I just listen to radio driving. So I definitely did not know this

Mine does it in amy source. I can pan the controls around, and its definitely just left front door and dash...

No popping or weirdness like a faulty wire, but its weird. My initial thought was the wires coming off the amp to speakers (as im running dash and doors of the same channel), so redid those connections and nothing was lose or shorting out. The only thing that came to mind was the harness (maestro t03), which got a little dorked up in shipping (squished plug), but it worked so i ran with it.

But if you guys got similar symptoms, no amp, etc... <scratches head>

I’m having a very similar issue with my 2008 Limited with JBL system. Anyone come up with a solution? Thx!

As DSLKSL noted, switching from HD to normal Stereo will have this effect, also losing the Stereo Pilot will drop the radio into mono mode, also resulting in a lower volume. What type of antenna is on your truck, also how far is the station transmitter away from you... If you are on it's fringe area, same result! If you have a little stubby antenna, test by replacing with a standard whip type antenna. Rule of thumb, the more signal you want the more metal you need to receive that signal!

I’ve noticed sometimes that my subwoofer must not be bumping, but sporadically. Some days it hits (as much as the shit JBL system allows) and sometimes I’ll get back in and notice it’s like I have the volume jacked up with no subwoofer going, so it sounds like shit. After a time or two in and out of the truck, it’ll be going just fine. Haven’t found a wire to the amp or the sub that looks loose

It happens regardless of the source. FM, Sat Radio, Streaming from iPhone, etc.

I was commenting on the OP's post, it sounds like you have a problem with your head unit not related to RF Transmission problems!
That's going to be a PIA to troubleshoot. Maybe it's time to upgrade your system!
