OEM Denso (or I like NGK for anything) but BUY FROM A REPUTABLE SOURCE, I got fake OEM tundra plugs on ebay once. Should have known the price was too good to be true, they eroded in 10k miles and started causing misfire faults. Replaced with OEM from RockAuto and no issues many more thousands later.

IMO, This is the only acceptable response.

I got non OEM (NGK 94122 LFR6AHX-S Ruthenium HX Plug) from Rockauto and have had no problems in the last 4 years. The only reason I got those was because my wife's name is Ruth and I thought it was amusing. OEM are probably just as good.

OEM from a trusted source. If you go with Denso here's what the box looks like along with the plug# for the 5.7 liter. Denso has a list of authorized retailers on their website.

How often is it recommended to change the spark plugs? Is it every 30k miles?

Normally 5 yrs or 60K miles, or before warranty expired. I did mine at about 60k+ miles, and found a oil leak from the #8 cly spark plug tube. Confirmed leak is not from valve cover seal to the tube. Leak was from tube seal to the cyl head. Toyota replaced the passenger side cyl head sub-assy under my extended warranty. Toyota does not sell the tube and seal that gets pressed into the cyl head sub-assy.

Toyota says 120k but personally I take what ever they say and cut it in half and will do mine at 60k. Make sure you're buying plugs from a dealer or autoparts store not Amazon or ebay as many counterfeit plugs exist now.

Every 100-120k. Did mine at 115k and they still had plenty of life left. I went OEM Denso 3421 from rock auto. Get the gear wrench magnetic spark plug socket with built in extension / swivel and thank me later

    Hey all,
Denso provides 3 different plugs as an option...

    Stock # 3421 | P/N SK20HR11
    - Gap 0.044 DENSO is O.E. Manufacturer / Iridium Long Life Plug - Patented Iridium Alloy Plug (90% Ir) with Platinum Ground Strap OE

    Stock # 4704 | P/N IKH20TT
    - Gap 0.040 Iridium TT - Ultimate Endurance and Power, 0.4mm Iridium and 0.7mm Platinum Twin-Tip Technology

    Stock # 5344 | P/N IKH20
    - Gap 0.044 Iridium Power - Performance Upgrade with World's Smallest Center Electrode (0.4 mm Dia.) & Tapered Tip Patented U-Groove Design & Patented Ir Alloy (90% Ir)

The 3421 seems to be the popluar choice and I believe is what comes on the trucks. Do the 5344's provide more power but less life? Rock Auto has those at about $.20cent cheaper than 3421's. The 4704 I see have "twin tip" at about $.50cents more. What does this "twin tip" provide?

Iridium can last 100k miles. I replaced the plugs on my 2007 with 260k miles 3x all 3 times the plugs looked good. A lot will depend on how you drive your truck going for longer drives will help the plugs stay cleaner

Thanks for the response. Not sure if it was in general or directed to my comment. All 3 options are iridium so I'm just wondering if there is an actual beneficial difference in paying more for the slightly more expensive ones. Maybe better mpg at cost of life longevity? I'm sure someone out there will know the exact differences and benefits.

Got your answer right here. Went with Autolite iridium, lasted about 80-85k miles. Cyl 5 started to misfire, that's this bad boy here, appears to be rated at a lower heat rating, according to Champion plugs guide. I recently changed them, meaning this last week, I posted all 8 here: Possible HG failure. | Toyota Tundra Forum (tundras.com) I have a 5.7 with 287k miles. This is the 2nd set, I went with NGK previous to these and back on NGK now.

I went with Denso HR11 plugs. Same as my originals.

Local Napa had them in stock for a price as good as ordering online.
