spark plugs and coils

    good afternoon all,
    I did my spark plugs at a 100k now I am almost to 200K and I was going to do spark plugs again. I was also thinking of doing the coils as well. is this a bad idea? also what all should I do for a 200k check up?

    It's not a horrible plan if quality parts are used. If not on par with Denso quality, you may as roll the dice and leave them be.

    If your vehicle lives its life in higher ambient temps, that would hedge my bet towards replacement.

    As for all the rest, the usual suspects:
    Clean MAF 30K
    Coolant 10yrs
    Diff's & t-case 40 to 50K
    Trans dump and fill 30K
    PS fluid 30K
    Brake fluid flush 3 years
    Filters as needed.
    Battery tested 4 years plus, or replace
    Check for oil leaks, fluid leaks (water pump)
    Verify AC pressure suction and pressure at temp. Low can kill the compressor.
    Replace drive belt every 100k
    Grease all that is greaseable

    That's all I have for now.

    I wouldn't change coil packs unless they fail but that's just me.

    why not? i'm starting to research spark plugs for my 2UZ-FE and wasn't thinking about this. how long do coil packs usually last?

    I've got 185k on mine. I have 2 new denso coils I keep in the truck and once I have two go bad I'll change all the rest of them. There's not always a set mileage that they'll fail at really.

    Uh well....hmmm....they're electrical parts. They're either faulty or they're still good. Plenty of other things to spend money on rather than parts that are not bad.

    My OEMs with 276k miles are working beautifully.

    Will second coils as long as they're good, let them be. I'm also at 270k+ with original coils. My 2002 Celica still has original coils.

    got it. so if my motor isn't misfiring they're probably fine? i wasn't sure if these were just a wear & tear item that had a service interval.

    The ones the manual recommends. Though for my 01 4.7 it's different than what your 07 4.7 would use I believe. Mine are just basic copper 30k plugs.

    No need to change the coils. I'm at 226k and no problems with the coils.

    A Toyota point of perspective. My 1997 T-100 (daily driver, original owner), V6, 275,000 miles, has lived its entire life in central Alabama (HEAT) and I still run the original coil packs and they are in perfect condition. Engine purrs like a fresh kitten.
