So I've read in a quick search landed in 2nd gen and there's some talk about the SPC cams not holding alignment very well.
Has anyone in 1st gen had issues with this?
I recently noticed a choppy sound and shimmy in the steering wheel, wheel is also slightly cocked after a friend/ mechanic drove it. Tires where rotated/ rebalanced within the last few months. Everything seemed fine.
I have an SPC cam on one side due to that bolt being trashed when I did the LCA bushings. Not sure yet which side fell outta whack so unsure if this is the culprit but seems it could be an option.
So I'll need a new alignment. Should I just get new OEM cams before to eliminate that and check the tabs are in place/ not folded over?

Note: I don't go off road, haven't smacked any curbs etc. Nothing I can think of that I did to knock alignment outta whack. It's been about a year or a little less since last alignment.

Interesting. I thought the internal corrosion of the cam adjuster in the bushing usually keeps them from moving out of place. :p

I've had them for a couple years, no trouble yet.

You do some wheeling also from time to time don't ya?
That's just something I found in search. It also said that if the tech doing the alignment doesn't tighten cams correctly then it can screw up the D sleeve on the cams. I'm chasing a ghost right now I think... hopefully I can pinpoint the cause and it can be corrected before spending on multiple alignments

A few runs down fire trails, nothing serious. SOC recommends different torque value than Toyota with these, that could be an issue.

Most shops I've been to guarantee at least 3 months on an alignment or Firestone offers Lifetime Alignments.

Some of the spc bolts use a plastic/delrin/teflon liner that gets smushed. Once that happens there is no saving it.

Get OEM and a fresh alignment.

This is basically what I read on before my post I think. I checked the cams visually compared to photos taken just after alignment was done. No visual difference. Did notice some new grease from CV axles so new boots and maybe axles on the list now. FML.
