    Hello,

I'm looking into doing a complete sound system over-haul to the existing non-JBL 9 speaker system on my 2024 Tundra. Question I have is what size speakers exist in their current locations? Crutchfield at the moment has no information on our new 3rd Gens. I'm not interested in ********* and would prefer to shop my choices as I build out from there for additional bass down the road. Thanks for any feedback for those that have already done this!

Agree^^. And, can optionally increase 1/2" on rears. have aftermarket 7.0 in rear doors and (edit) 2 3/4 in dash

Great so there is a little wiggle room to upsize a little and still mount the speakers to their existing mounting holes?

depends. usually means adaptive mounts. the 7 example (rear) above came with this in the box, for toyota, gm etc. Flexible mounts can be purchased or made too. In my case it was convenient to shell out a few hours of labor for experienced installer to do all the speakers, they added soundskins and 2 year warranty.

Cool was this a crutchfield grab or did you source it elsewhere? When the door cards are out I will sound proof the entire doors.

Just starting out but never will be done
You'd think that after being out for 2 years Crutchfield would have the information by now :frusty: They used to be on top of their game but not so much anymore. I just traded in my 3rd Gen Tacoma, and based off the pics here looks like the exact same speaker sizes. If I'd known that I would have put the OEM speakers back in before trading when I pulled everything out. I'm somewhat hopeful that the radio harness plugs are the same. I had bought the male and female connectors to run all the wiring and keep it simple for removing my amps and sub when it came time to turn it in.

Agreed. There are plenty of 3rd gens rolling the roads now that they would have a lot of sales on upgrades both JBL and non-JBL.

Cool thanks. I'm leaning towards Audio Frogs. I will probably do a phased approach by first sound proofing the doors and door cards so I can get some absolute measurements and then finish the install once I choose the hardware.

From what I can tell the wiring should be the same as the 2020 models with engine ver 3
At least as far as I could tell from the harness bypass kits here
    https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/41112.html

So it should be pretty straight forward if you dont have the factory amp. Simple harness adapter so you dont have to splice wires add an amp inline.
I think a simple small amp like the alpine power pack would work great. These amps are pretty decent and small. They dont replace the big powerhouse like the amazing PDX series but its ok for a quick budget add on

Put two Alpine tweeters here for now while I consider A-piller add later. Spiffy. Easy. Sounds great. The Universal Strap was 99 cents and everything was a breeze.

If anyone has the source for the supporting plastic structure to support a 6X9 in the front doors please share. Thanks all for the feedback.

Any pics of what speaker you pulled out of there? And did you just splice into the wires for that speaker to run the two tweets?

Pulled the lone remaining stock speaker i had in the vehicle, all others already upgraded throughout (earlier). Just spliced into the wires in the center dash location for now. Best way long term would be to pull from both left and right which i may do at some point, but this is great for now, sound exceeds expectations and may be just fine as is. May still do A-pillar in the future, haven't decided yet, we'll see. Went with Alpines specifically for mounting flexibility and quality sound. Below is pic of the stock speaker removed ..

OP, I pinged the venders again. TT of course has one for 6.5 but have not yet responded re 6x9. CF still saying they haven't eval'd MY22+ yet. Here is photo of stock front door speaker removed. I would be surprised if the multi-use 6*9 adapter offered by TT for MY21 and earlier for didn't work but I have not tried it so i cannot say for sure but it may be worth a try. The 6x9's i have came with multi-use mount that fits all tundra '07 and above suggesting sameness over the years.

I have a 2024 Limited crew cab with the non JBL system. The system sounds weak, and I'm not a stereo guy. Will replacing just the speakers wake up the sound? Or is there something else I need to consider?

If they are like my tacoma was it will wake it up. The magnets on those stock speakers were about the size of a thick quarter.

I read earlier in the thread these might be 2 ohm stock so pay attention to that. I don't remember needing to watch for that in the tacoma.

Great info here, thanks. I’m also less than impressed with my ‘23 audio (non JBL), and weighing replacing speakers or the beat sonic amp…

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone has replaced the stock non jbl front door speaker with a 6x9 (gen 3 Tundra Crewcab). If so, what adapter and mounting depth were you able to get in there? I would like to use the speakers in the link below that show a mounting depth of 3.39". I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions, thanks.

I don't have a 2022+ so I can't say for certain, but I've not seen 6x9 adapters offered by TT or Sounds Good Stereo. I did find these on ebay that claim they're for 2022+ and fit a 6x9 although they don't list a top mount depth: Toyota Tundra 2023-24 Speaker Adapters for 6x9's (Pair) | eBay

From Crutchfield you can find the mounting specs and although Crutchfield is notoriously wrong about what will fit, it gives you a general idea of depth etc., ignore those mounting brackets/specs and just look at the right column:

Good info, I appreciate it. I will check out the adapters you linked, and yes I agree CF is not always spot-on but gives some good info to work from. Just hoping to springboard off of someone else's success. Nothing like ordering what you "think" will work only to end up with a truck that is taken apart, and contemplating surgery with a dremel tool. Hoping to avoid all that if possible. Thanks again for reaching out.

Agreed that is indeed the worst scenario to find yourself in. Best of luck and hopefully you're able to squeeze those in!
