    I have a 2005 DC 2-wheel drive TRD Tundra with over 200k miles. It’s my daily driver, and the most off-road action it sees is driving on my flat, level, gravel driveway. It now needs new struts (including the springs) on the front.

    I’ve checked with Toyota, and the original springs are no longer available through them.

    I’ve read LOADS of forum postings, and I know that Bilstean 4600 or 5100 are often the preferred replacements. I’m not interested in changing the height of my truck at all. And I’d like it to ride similar to the “factory settings” too.

    Here are my questions:

    If I get the 5100’s, can they be set where there will be zero height change? It seems like some mention a minimum of .75 or some such.

    And

    Where can I get some springs? I see that some people mention Eirbach springs, but the only ones I can find seem to add 2.5 inches, and I don’t want that.

    Thanks. Long time lurker (thanks for the many solutions over the years);
    first time poster (be gentle with me).

    Ok, I called Eibach, and they said their only spring gives it a 2.5 inch lift. Good to mark that issue off the list. Thanks.

    OK, I have an update - I called Eibach, and the only springs they have give a 2.5 inch lift. The nice guy there asked me what was wrong with my original springs. I'm not sure, so I called the garage back. TURNS OUT that the guy there said that he DIDN'T say that my springs were bad. He just said that IF we could replace with a complete strut assembly, that's what he'd recommend. [AND I recall that he did say that, he's not just blowing smoke.....]. But that we CAN use the original springs.

    SO, I have now ordered the Bilstein 4600 shocks and the top mounts, and I will be using the original springs.

    Many thanks!

    Very Good !

    The guy doing the work is wanting to make it easy on himself. Replacing the entire units with new struts is easier for them ~ no disassembly/reassembly of the old struts required.
    Just toss the old ones in the trash and bolt on new.
    A decent shop would have a device to compress the springs allowing the mechanic to removed and replace the dampers. It may be a bit more work for them but it will be worth it to you all the way around.
    Getting the Bilstein 4600 units over the 5100 units is perfect in your case ~ good choice.

    Thanks! And yes, they have the machine to compress the springs and reuse them. All in all, I think this will be a better option than the Monroe struts that are their standard part. I've had to do waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too much research to get to this point, but I do think I'll be happy with the result. Many thanks to this great forum.

    Cheers!
