    Hello,
I am currently looking at getting a 2024 Tundra and was wondering if the TRD Sport was more capable of road then the standard SR5 4x4. I know the TRD sport is lower a half inch... Not looking to do any major off roading more like dirt roads and shallow bodies of water. Thanks in advance!

Want it for off road or mainly highway?

If you’re looking for something with a little better off-road performance why not look at the TRD off-road?

I would mostly be using it for highway/daily driver but would like to take it off road on a few times a year. Don't think I need crawl control and all the fancy off road stuff.

I don’t see anything on the sport that would make it more capable Off road. You could probably save a little sticking with the standard if you’re not interested in the off-road

I have a sport and love it but definitely no more capable off road. . Maybe even less with the lower front and slick tires. I like the look of the sport but while I feel it does handle better (before I leveled it), it also rides a little harsher. . .

Nomoredomestics have you taken it off road and did/do you have any concerns doing so?

The TRD Sport is the one to have for us highway only folks. Handles and drives better IMO. And looks quite nice doing it.

    Off road chops no difference.

Get the regular one then, however, the TRD packages are nice. I have the OR, and while I haven’t used the locker, the MTS system is pretty good, and the little things like the matching handles and aluminum pedals make for a nice unit.

My “needs” for 4x4 are limited to sketchy fishing spots, boat ramps, and some feed/tack related off roading so I got the TRD sport 4x4. I test drove the off-road and found it a little rougher than I care for. Since I’m 95% highway driving, will never feel the need to go rock climbing in a 70k truck, the decision was easy for me.

Stock tires are a little slick on the sport, but I was able to get in and out of some hunting spots last fall without any issue. Aside from two weeks in November, my TRD Sport only sees pavement. On the roads it is a great ride. Glad I went with the TRD sport over the TRD off road.

Sport would be fine for occasional off roading and snow and I would have gotten one of those if it had been available at the time I got my OR. I'll never use the OR features, like the locker or crawl, except maybe to test them once or twice. Unfortunately, Toyota doesn't seem to make as many Sport trim so finding one in the color and options you want is almost impossible, at least here. But for mostly on road use that would be the way to go, IMO.
