Test drove both yesterday. Both are set up nice and I'd be fine with either.

Limited already has running board or chrome step, leather, and spray in bedliner.

The SR5.......is a listed difference of 4431 dollars before getting into the dealing for best prices etc...

Has cloth seats. Would need a black running board or steps, a spray in liner, and a transition to leather and possibly heated seats.....(which of course the dealer said they could do at what I am sure will be a pricey charge).

I did not put the JBL sound from the limited as I would probably upgrade either truck with an upgraded sound system.

    Thoughts or comments?

I feel as if I would be able to get the leather, steps, and bed liner for cheaper that 4431.

And the SR5 is rated for 9800 vs 8900 regarding towing. Both have the TRD off road pkg and upsized fuel tank.

    Thanks for any feedback!!

It seems you would be better off buying the SR5 and fixing it up the way you like.

Does the SR5 come with parking sensors? I went with a limited because I figured for me it would cost less to delete the chrome than try to add all the things I wanted to the SR5. Either way your'e going to end up with a nice truck.

I ended up getting the SR5 for a few reasons:

    - thought I'd seriously miss backup sensors, but the backup camera is VERY accurate for me. Once I get the whole FRAC thing installed, it'll be awesome.
    - every Limited I ran across had leather and sensors...and a bunch of other stuff my SR5 has.
    - Limiteds were way more than an SR5.

I'd get an SR5, and pay the approximately $1500-2000 for the leather/heated seats, spray-in bedliner, and such. But that's just me.

You’ve laid it out clearly. The determining factor is if you prefer to pay for the truck to come equipped with those items, or if you want to install those items yourself (or have someone install them).

From all that I have read, you are wise to avoid the JBL sound package, especially if you plan to upgrade.

If you do the work yourself, you should save some money AND you get to pick the gear.

I am biased- that is exactly what I did.

If it is the limited plus package (or whatever they call it) I would go for that.
The ones here have a sunroof, dual zone climate control, seat heaters, and a few other options.

I believe the SR5 Upgrade Package comes with heated seats. Mine did, at least.

OP, depending on where you are, I think you can do a bed liner for ~$500 and running boards for less than $1000, depending on what exactly you want. If I recall correctly, folks on here have done Katzkin leather seats for about $700 (but I have a bad memory, so don't quote me on that). So, if I got those prices right, you could buy the SR5 and still be ~$2200 ahead. I also think the black door handles on the SR5 look a little better than the chrome ones on the Limited but that's obviously personal preference.

This. BSM and RCTA are nice to have. Also, not sure if things have changed but homelink garage door openers did not come on SR5 back in 2017.
