After less than two weeks of ownership, my new Tundra popped up with an SRS Airbag System Malfunction warning. Has anyone else had this issue resolved, and if so how?

Already did! I was wondering if others had the same issue and had an idea of how they fixed it.

Yes, I had the same issue with my Tundra. Problem is that couldn’t diagnose the issue, and by the time I took the truck to the dealer the code cleared.

I’ve had it pop up once or twice but always went away after restarting.

Do you have the wireless charger? Do you use it?

Lol, is this a legit question or an attempt at thread jacking?

Not trying to hijack the thread. There’s a TSB for this issue. I was told by the tech that the airbag ecu lives in the area behind the wireless charger and electrical interference may cause this warning to appear. The fix is a software update.

    I heard about that!

I've got an iPhone 13 Pro which I've already heard that the wireless charger just doesn't work with that phone, so I'm pretty sure that I didn't have the phone there at the time the SRS warning appeared. But I might have had the phone in the "second" space next to the charger.

Regardless I'll ask the dealership to do the software update per the TSB. @xc_tc do you have the TSB number? I'm sure the dealership can find it but I'd like to learn about it myself.

Dealership got back to me and confirmed the wireless charger TSB wouldn't be the root cause of my malfunction. There's a code that was recorded, apparently there's a short somewhere that isn't always showing up, and that code isn't listed in the wireless charging TSB.

Thank you for the suggestion @xc_tc !

I don’t know the TSB number but glad you had some resolution.

Some resolution I suppose, yes. Unfortunately the truck is still in the shop and, so far, the issue has not been root caused.

Woohoo! They updated the firmware on the wireless charger, reseated some connectors on a wire harness, and they couldn't replicate the issue after 50 miles of driving. Got my truck back today!

I got all the updates mentioned in this tread done at the dealer, 1 week and about 200 miles later, the SRS Malfunction light is back on. This will be the third time I am taking it to the dealer for the SRS issue. At what point do they consider it a Lemon Law issue and maybe take the truck back or replace it?

Contact an attorney and proceed...no way in hell a guy should have to pay $65K for a rig with so many issues. A Toyota, good lord.

Lemon laws are state specific. Some are 3 times for same issue, others are 3 ti.es dame issue with X days without vehicle, others yet see 5 times woth X days and Y other thresholds. Best to contact a local attorney with expertise

Mine has done the same thing on three occasions. Took it in to dealer and they reprogrammed SRS ECU. Hasn’t come on back since then. Fingers crossed.

OK guys, my 2022 Tundra 1794 had that light come on roughly about 5-6 different times (at approximately 7,000 miles). I would turn off the truck then back on and the light would disappear. Took it to the dealer, which they ran an extensive diagnostic which resulted in a faulty seat belt sensor on the front passenger seat. The dealer ordered a senor and replaced at no cost on day two. The light has not came back on, fingers crossed.

    Update:
SRS Air Bag Malfunction light kept coming back on after the dealer had already replaced the seat belt sensor. Took it back to the dealership two more times, on the second the dealership decided to keep the truck for a day. They were to communicate with Toyota engineers on a possible solution, so they updated the SRS ECU. It has been almost two weeks since I got my truck back after the update and the light has not came back on.

Goddamnit mine just came up and it won’t go away. No wireless charger and ECU is latest 1050 version. Basically stock truck besides leveling struts that have been on for 500 miles. Currently at 1300 miles

Mine came on a few days ago. Plus Pre-Collision System malfunction and Cruise Control Malfunction. Taking to dealer tomorrow to start the circus affair.

Updated - Dropped the truck off at the dealer. They kept it for 4 days. Replaced a passenger side seatbelt sensor and that didn’t resolve it. Then they said it was a loose connector under the steering column.
