Evening fellas, need your help big time here. The too long to read version is my SRS Airbag System Malfunction light came on and a whole list of things is now wrong with my truck. I’ve already tried to unplug and plug back in the airbag cord under the seats. Which is the main fix I found for this code on the internet. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Ok, the longer version. Today I installed the bumpershellz for my chrome delete project. I have the censor so I had to detach and re-attach those to complete the install. Once I completed the install I turned the truck on and everything seemed fine at that time so I moved onto my next project which was switching my master window switch to all auto. This is where things went down hill. I had the truck off. Installed the new master switch, tried turning the truck on and it starts telling me the key cannot be detected meanwhile the key is as close as it normally is but I bring it closer and still the truck won’t turn on. After multiple times of pushing the button the truck finally starts. And the message is now on the dash. “SRS Airbag System Malfunction”. I leave that alone for now and try the new switch. Nothing on it works. Not the windows or door locks or the window lock, nothing. I turn off the truck and re-installed the oem window switch. Again start having trouble getting the damn car on but eventually it’s on. Now the oem switch isn't working either lol. Only the driver side window button works but not entirely, the auto function on it is not working but it at least rolls down the window. No other buttons work. Now I’m like wtf is going on so I just uninstall the battery to give it a hard reset. Doesn’t work. I turn the car on and off multiple times and try a few of the same things over a few times along with some variations of other things to see if anything gives. Nothing. I try unplugging the airbag wire under the seats to see if the code will go away, nothing. Then I start realizing other things. My key fob doesn’t work. It won’t lock and unlock the car. I have to do it with the standard key. My air conditioning display doesn’t remember where I last had the temperature at. It always has it at 72 when I start the truck and even if I turn it to low it doesn’t cool and the display says it’s shooting the air only at my face but there’s air coming out of the feet area. My tire pressure light is also on.

This is all so strange to me because I did nothing underneath the seats today so why would the airbag wire down there be causing problems. I also don’t keep anything under my seats so it doesn’t look like anything might have hit it and damaged it. It’s also so strange that after I disconnected the wire for the master switch was when all of this starting happening. Like I would understand maybe a bit more of why this could be happening if I thought it could be due to the censors after the bumpershellz install but like I said I turned the truck on right after that and nothing was wrong. How could all of this happen right after uninstalling something so seemingly simple as a window switch? These cars today are so stinking complicated man. I’m starting to miss my 2010 lol.

Sorry about the extra long post and thank you for any ideas ahead of time. I’d like to know what you guys think before inevitable getting raped at the stealership.

This exact thing has just occurred to me. Has anyone figured out how to fix it?

Have you taken your dash apart recently; is it possible that the airbag sensor is not plugged in all the way? I forgot to plug mine back in when installing the new head unit and it wreaked havoc. If that’s loose I can see where it might be going haywire. Have you had your battery checked? Sometimes a weak battery can cause all sorts of issues as well. Check fuses too - if you did that work and the battery wasn’t disconnected you could have accidentally blown or compromised a fuse. This may get ugly meaning that you might have to check each one with a multimeter. Just because they look intact doesn’t mean they are all the time.

The only thing I did was plug in a new aftermarket driver window control unit. I suspect the unit has blown a fuse or multiple fuses.
I checked all the fuses in the engine compartment, now I have to check the ones under the drivers dash.

Ok then I would closely inspect all fuses, with a meter is you know how. And get the battery load tested.

It was two blown fuses: 5A ECU-B NO.2 and the third from front 30A fuse, both on the panel below the dash.
The 30A fuse was pulled with long needle nose, and then checked with my tester. It was impossible for me to tell it was blown visually.
    Thank you for the help!
