Sup guys, was bein a dummy before I left for vacation. Just got the bumper put on but it was raw metal, so it was rusting after a day or two. I went and found some cheap rust-olem to hold it off before I could clear coat it when I got home. But I let it sit for too long and it’s stained! Any products or methods you guys recommend to get the polished look back?

Not a bad deal, would that reach the plates too?

:notsure: dunno, I haven't played with one yet but it'll polish the tubing with the right grit paper. There'll definitely be some hand work to accomplish what you want.

Our bumpers are VERY similar. Can't remember the fab guy's name, he's in SoCal, where I first saw the design. Good luck with your project.

0000 steel wool should do the trick.

Thing about steel wool is little fragments get left behind and can make a rust situation worse. I gave up on steel wool a long time ago and only use synthetic now.

I made an entry door for a client at the beach. I applied the desired finish with steel wool. A couple weeks later I got a callback, black dots were popping up primarily in the corners. So, I had the pleasure of refinishing a door I'd just built. That was the last time I used steel wool.

That makes sense. I haven't had it happen to me yet, but I'll be more cautious of that in the future. I use it alot for cleaning up glass, machined surfaces, and chrome, etc. Maybe a magnet could get any wool pieces leftover. They also make a 0000 and 000 bronze wool that works great too. But it's harder to get your hands on. Most bronze wool labeled "Fine" is 000
