I have the silver steel wheels. They have seen better days. Deciding if painting them silver again or maybe plastidipping them would look best on white truck. Anyone spruce up their steel wheels?

Plastidip is a short term finish in my opinion. It will chip and such especially around the wheel weights, but its easy and cheap enough to spray on to touch up the bad spots. My vote is paint, since either paint or plastidip will still require cleaning, prep, taping, etc. Do all the prep once and use the paint for a longer and better looking finish.

I actually “dolled” up my steel wheels and use them as my winter set.

They were powder coated in Kingsport Gun Metal Gray with the center cap painted in a matte black for $300 out the door.

Very nice, love them! Where’d you get them powder coated?

I just bought those exact same tires.

@AzureNightmare I def have sprayed a wheel or two in my day :hattip:.

Now @Rocko9999 , as for the procedure, a good sanding, primer then shoot color of choice and clear of choice. :hattip:

I am thinking paint now. I don't want to have to redo the wheels. Any thoughts on if I should just paint them a similar silver or black?

Very cool. How’d you do the sanding? Had to take forever....

I plasta dipped my original rims back in the day. I went with 5 coats per wheel and they lasted quite a while. I got tired of doing it and finally went with aftermarket rims. Plasta dip is a cheaper option than powder coating, and my opinion powder coating is not worth the money. If your gonna pay for it, you might as well get some aftermarket rims.
I did my rims in place, it helps to spray tire wet/ shine or something similar when you spray your rims. This makes it super easy to remove overspray. :D

Thanks! The wheels were powder coated here locally in Southeast Idaho. My boys and I recently put these tires on a couple of weeks ago. So far they have been great. Best!

I just snagged a set of Tundra Alloy Wheels for $200 to change out with the Steelies.

And I got an earlier set for $60 a while back but have not done anything with them during the 'Rona.

Seems like a cheaper and longer lasting way to go at least for me?

I hear you. I was able to get my steelies gifted (a real steal, ha) and then used the money I would have used to purchase them with to send to powder coat. I still had a little left over. Win, win for me also.
