Hey everyone, I just got a Pioneer DMH-2660 stereo. Everything works great except for one thing.... when I go to Carplay mode the steering wheel control to move to the next track doesn't work, but volume works. It also works when I go to the radio, just not within carplay. Am I missing a component or something?

I’m having this same issue. Were you ever able to get it fixed?

I don’t get why it’ll work for the radio but not in car play mode.

Also on yours if you do something on your phone like open photos app does yours change from say the radio screen to the black CarPlay screen?

I got in touch with idata and they told me to get the maestro RR and that would work. I haven't gotten it installed yet, but I think that will do the trick. Too bad its like another $270 for the RR and another harness you have to get. I think I'm gonna get it installed next week so I'll report back

Damn! Yea I’ll just have to live with not being able to track forward and back on CarPlay. That’s steep! I don’t have the maestro though, I used the axxess steering wheel control

I think you’ll be much happier with the idatalink. I have it on our truck and everything works perfectly. Zero issue with carplay track up/down using swc. Suck its a little pricey. But it’s worth it in the end. Hit eBay, sometime you can find a deal.

Also with the radio if youre listening to the radio and then open an app on your actual phone does it change your screen to the iPod screen? Just curious if anyone else has that issue

thanks. It must have something to do with the wireless adapter I added then. I’ve honestly never tried it without the wireless adapter so may have to just plug it in directly and see if I have the same issue

    thanks for your help

Same parts I used to put a DMH-2600NEX in last week. Also used there USB adapter to retain the factory USB location. My only issue with the harness is that it is intended to use a premade harness so you don't have to splice it to you stereo harness. Only the adapter harnesses can't be bought yet. I emailed them and was told no one will have them listed yet even though their website shows them. So step one is literally cut of big connector and splice in wires.

That said the ssytem works great and getitng the TPMS screen and gauges (especially trans temp) is great. Didn't change anything from default while programming the RR and everything works fine.

can you elaborate on this? I’m not sure I understand it correctly?

Same...I have the USB adapter I installed on my 2011 a few weeks back and it works fine. Note there are two USB adapters. The factory one (at least on my 2011) had to be connect up to the data point behind the glove box. Not difficult but a little work, as I had to kind of feel my way around. I'm going off memory a bit, but I believe there are two adapters as some trucks have a data/entertainment center type setup, and others don't. One routes the USB via the factory wires, and one I believe hooks it up directly to the deck. Again...memory here, but the having or lack of originally-installed Bluetooth/steering wheel controls may be the deciding factor.

What I found was that the original harness was the rTO2, it had unterminated wires which were ready to splice to the harness that comes with the head unit. Now there is the hrTO2 (notice teh h ). It has all of the loose wires connected to a black connector. In theory you can buy a short adapter cable. In the case of a pioneer unit it would be part number PI01. Thus no splicing. But no one seemed to have them. I emailed maestro, and they told me it was a new product and none of the resellers would have them listed for sale yet. They did suggest calling crutchfield and asking if they had one, but the guy there didn't know what it was. I suspect these adapter cables will start to show up and this will literally be a plug and play solution.

I was also told the older rTO2 cable was discontinued. I guess since it takes 30 seconds with wire cutters to turn an hrTO2 into an rTO2.

This is from the install guide:

Something that just popped into my head. Maestro sells an "antenna adapter". It is for the gps and satellite antennas, not the AM/FM radio antenna. I didn't use the gps or sat radio connections. Maestro does NOT make a AM/FM radion adapter but you need one, so source that seperately. I went with the red wolf https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VFTPJMM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. Works fine, you don't need to connect the blue wire.

I see what you’re saying now. That must be new because i used the RTO2 harness. Hrto2 must be their new update version.

That's what i undertood. I guess they got the hrTO2 into production but don't have the adapter cables yet. Which kind of makes sense. The big harness fits pretty much every Toyota in the newer year group. But they will need different adapters for each head unit manufacturer.

I supposed it’s only a matter of time before they will have the adapters. It will definitely make installation so much easier. No soldering involve.

Ahh perfect!! thats what I wanted to hear! I was debating going ahead and setting it up at home, then taking it to best buy, but if you say the defaults worked, then that sounds good to me. Thanks again!

it’s really simple to program. You can watch YouTube video by 5starcarstereo (five star car stereo). They have vid on how to program it.
