I’ve looked but have not seen anything, looking for a step by step guide to replace coil overs . Will be installing 6112/5160 setup this coming weekend. Just curious if anyone has put together a tips and tricks document to aid the process.

It’s not really a guide... but I did mine two days ago.heres my best attempt to help. You’ll need to unbolt the components in green and red. On the green portion there’s a bolt on top of your UCA that holds your bracket for your break line unbolt this and bungee your spindle to the back as to relieve tension on the lines. Unbolt your tie rod (red). If you have your sway bar still also (yellow line) this Will need to be unbolted. Keep in mind these parts are also pretty well bonded together and a hammer alone won’t separate them. I recommend the OEM tools ball joint separator as its cheap, works well, and has a warranty worked like a charm for me. Once all done Remove the bottom of the shock and slide it out. Pop your new ones in, rebolt everything back in, torque everything and off to get an alignment and your done. F99922A7-37FC-4F9E-AB39-D170F52050F2.jpg

No, it's not difficult, And don't disconnect the spindle from the upper control arm..Watch a couple of youtube videos and you'll understand why.

Edit : There are some writeups somewhere on this Forum..

I just did it this last weekend on my 2010 2WD. I unbolted the 2 under the spindle holding it to the LCA, and unbolted the one to the sway bar. Lastly I unbolted the bottom shock bolt and the 4 on top, Pried the LCA down with a long pry bar and removed the shock assembly. Reverse for re-install. Not sure if the same for a 4WD with the drive axle in the way.

This^^^^, don’t disconnect the spindle and upper control arm. It’s actually quite easy to do.

    Alot of them
They are correct...do NOT disconnect at the upper ball joint. Pull the 2 bolts on the lower end to swing the spindle out of the way. Also, since you will need an alignment anyway, loosen the lower control arm bolt and lower the arm instead of prying it. Trust us, it will be a lot easier that way.....that coil will slide right in.

Here is the install for Toyecs coils, but as mentioned, loosen the lower control arm bolt. You will be glad that you did.
