I have a 2010 Tundra SR5. I would like to change out my stock non JBL stereo for a touchscreen unit. The largest one that will fit like factory is a 7-inch screen. Are those of you that have a 7-inch screen happy with this size or did you opt for a floating screen that is larger? My main need is for using Waze and hooking up a backup camera. I am not sure I would like the look of a floating screen.

My Dasaita is a 9” screen and sits flush.

That looks really nice. How do you like that unit? Your dash is different than mine. What year is your Tundra? I just looked at your avatar and see you have a 2015.

Oh crap I’m sorry man. I didn’t read that your year is a 2010. I should have paid attention. I really like the unit if you find something similar for your year.

I have a 2010 and I've been running a 7" Pioneer unit (AVH 4400 NEX) for a while now. It connects to Android Auto no problem with the Motorola dongle (it does carplay as well, I think), and I've been really happy with it. Size is good for me and isn't too distracting. It's got a plug for a backup camera and I'm planning on getting one to hook up soon. I'll get a picture of the unit if you want it?

I'm planning to install a Pioneer or Sony HU on my '08. I found the same options that you did in terms of size. Putting in a tailgate cam at the same time, once I figure out the best way to route the wiring.

I know that Pioneer makes new units that do wireless Android Auto or Carplay. This Motorola dongle was a good workaround for my older unit. Just got a short usb extension and tucked it under my cup holder.

Dasaita makes a 10.1” that fits pretty well in the 2nd Gen and looks OEM. There an also lots of cheaper options with similar hardware if backup camera and CarPlay is what your looking for. I’m talking sub $200.

    IMG_0521.jpg

I’m going to be offering my 10.2” dasaita for free as the screen is starting to flicker some. Likely a backlight LED going bad. I’m waiting for the 11.6” Joying unit I ordered to come in.

I would think you would want something larger than a 9” screen if you were to compare the two.

I like the look of that Dasaita installed. I did some research on that one and Joying. I was not sure what all I would need for wiring harness and other accessories to make it work. Also was a little skeptical about emailing China for support but I know others have with success including you it seems. Where did you purchase and how was your experience? Are you able to get your backup camera to come on when you are in reverse without toggling something on the HU?

I would go smaller screen, but opt for wireless CarPlay or android auto. CD players aren’t worth the trouble, they don’t display any information like the old single din units.

I bought my Dasaita from Amazon and the Joying directly from them on their website. Usually they do a good job of identifying what model you need so it comes with the harness you need. But you may need to pull your stock radio out to see the connections on the back. After that it’s plug and play and the backup camera function should be functional.

I’ve enjoyed the Android radios bc of all the apps and accessories for them vs the major brands like Pioneer, Kenwood, Apline, etc…

How are you liking your Joying so far? What's your experience with the cameras?

Replaced my front bumper camera with an AHD one. Very clear image!

Backup stock camera in tailgate handle sucks for resolution on this big screen, but it works.

So the 11.6 blocks your view of the time and temperature that’s on the top of your dash? And do you still like it? Is everything functioning good still?

I think it just looks that way because of the angle I took the photo. I don’t think it covers as much as the picture makes it seem. Also, you have some adjustment to move that screen up and down to your liking.

Like the unit so far. Been less buggy than the previous Dasaita unit I had. Only issue at the moment is the location for CarPlay isn’t working very well. Not sure if it’s trying to use the gps from the radio, but it’s often inaccurate and doesn’t show speed properly.
