Why on earth would you lift a truck and then put stock rims back on. They would look silly.

Many do so, lots of them do so with spacers though. Like a 1" Bora or 1.25" spidertrax.

I would do bigger tires, just with the stock rims

Agreed, could you imagine Bridgestone Deulers with that kind of lift? Trust me, it looks silly.

I’m running 275/70/18 with stock off-road rims, but looking to bump up to those 285/75/18s. What’s your lift, and did you use spacers? What wheel did you go with and how’s the poke? Four questions, sorry lol

Many of us "old guys" have run stock tires and rims on a lifted trucks until we could afford the Rims and Tires! No shame in that bro! A lift makes the truck look like the ugly duckling fixing to turn into the gorgeous swan.

bought my truck in 2015 and built it in stages. tires-grille-lightbar-fogs-lift-then finally wheels and tires again.
it was all by design because 1. I wasn't going to throw another 6k into my truck right away. 2. a good way to prolong excitement about something is to maintain it.
7 years later i have all the upgrades i originally planned, still love my truck and never made any build errors or exceptions because i wasn't rushing through it... and not one person telling me it looks silly

Yeah, when I posted that, I read it as a 3 inch lift with stock tires. My bad. This was the image that came to my mind.

i hear ya. even non-lifted stock tundra's look like this to me after going 285/55/20's and now up to 275/65/20's.

That’s like asking why would you choose to become fat and lazy instead of fit and healthy? Or drink and get drunk when you can just be sober? More to life than trucks.

I just put a 3.5” lift on my Tundra and am riding on stock rims and 275x70x18 tires. I just want a little poke of the tires but can’t determine the best/cheapest way to achieve that look:

Keep stock rims but would a 285x75x18 or a 295x70x18 achieve that?

Upgrade to a 25+ offset wheel and keep the 275x70x18 size tires?

Seems like the cons to upgrading tires is that they are heavier, which ups the mpg and cost more, especially when you have to replace them more than once compared to decent wheels that will offset my current tire, are lighter than tires and don’t need replacement as often as tires.

This is what I’m finding through research but maybe I’m off. But what I don’t understand is the 275x70x18 tire I have is 5lbs heavier than the bigger 285x75x18, which does not make sense to me since there’s more sidewall and width on the 285’s.

Of course there is. No argument here but on this forum that's not really the spirit of the conversation.

if you truly did achieve a 3.5" lift from where you started your next purchase likely won't be tires or wheels, it'll be new upper-control arms as you're likely out of spec on your alignment now and could be prematurely wearing your tires and putting stress on front end parts.
The cheapest way to achieve the look you want is going to be wheel spacers which i've never personally used but plenty of fellas run them without incident.
The weight on the different sized tires might be a difference in load range?
IMO either of the sizes listed would be fine but you will not be able to run either on stock wheels as they'll scrub badly. To be realistic there's a solid chance you'll be pulling your liners in at the front of the wheel AND cutting/removing your front flaps to get either in.

The 3.5” I installed came with upper control arms and full strut and shocks along with other parts to keep things as original as possible. It rides real nice.
