Question on wiring. I am using a Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1 mono sub amp. I'm not sure if the subs are wired correctly. You can see the jumpers that are installed. Looking at the manual for the subs, if i am running only 1 amp and 2 subs, there should only be 1 jumper on each sub, not 2? There is the pos and negative wires that run from the cup to one sub, and then a second set runs from there to the other sub. At the amp, the positive is connected to the Pos on the A position and the negative is connected to the negative on the B position.

Yeah I have been out of audio terminology for so long but I didn't think they were wired correctly. That's how the shop told me to wire them when I bought them years ago. I just bought that amp and it sounded a little off so I pulled the subs to see how they were wired. The subs are dual voice coil 4 ohms and I'm not sure what the amps stable rating is....That's why I linked it and the subs.

Not sure if you saw I edited my post.
I first thought they are wired in series and added a link to your amp.

My stealthbox, with 4 ohm DVC subs sounded like crap for years.
The enclosure was advertised to be 2 ohms.
I finally opened it up and saw JL Audio wired the subs in series making them 4 ohms.
I rewired it in parallel which bought it closer to 2 ohms and it sounds much better..

So from what I can tell, mine is wired like the pic on the right and wired correctly?

    I would think yes.

If they were wired in series, there would be a lone jumper going from the pos to the neg like this.
This was when mine were incorrectly wired.

Not to confuse myself, but what is the difference in the current setup versus the wiring diagrams in the sub manual (attached in original post)?

Both examples 5 and 6 are series wired, I guess with different amps, 5 is 2 ohm and 6 is 4 ohm.
I see both use the jumper from pos to neg, which contradicts the JL Audio diagrams.
Parallel wiring gives you the lowest ohms.

You could always try wiring them in series like that and see what they would sound like.

Are you replacing the amp or adding the subs?

You have to keep in mind, I'm no expert.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge, and it wouldn't take much, will chime in.

I'm just reading the diagrams and mine sounded better in parallel than in series.

I think I'll stick with the JL diagram. I have had the subs for a few years. The amp is new....I.bought it on Friday. I bought the box from another Tundra owner locally and the shop recommended the Alpine subs. The box originally was built for Hertz subs though.
