Hello, I have a 2005 Tundra that has severe wind noise all of a sudden at highway speeds.

It's not from the window it's from the seam between the door and frame where the slant of the windshield meets the roof. When I wedge my fingers up into the weather strip I can feel the door moving significantly in and out while the whistling occurs at speed (I did the same on the passenger side and you can't really feel it moving).

I've read this could be multiple things - wind coming through an improperly sealed windshield, bad weather strip moulding etc.

I'm curious though, before I redo the weather strip - could this be because my door isn't shutting properly? Has anyone experienced this?

Yep. A buddy opened the pass side door on a windy day and it swung open hard leading to the ‘whistle’ effect you discuss. Without too much detail, I used a flexible roller wedge to bend the upper part of the door frame back into shape. This fixed it mostly.

The next phase, to complete the repair, was adding some backer rod from the big box and tucked it in behind the existing OEM weatherstripping flap. This basically ‘fluffed’ the slight gap and made a complete seal again. Spray and wipe down clean all your seals with some PB Blaster Silicone with Teflon Spray for an added bonus.

The hinge had slightly bend out of shape. When it happened, I thought major work was going to be needed. Got home and went to work on it. No tools other than a hard plastic roller the size of an empty paper towel roller and some properly applied leverage.

The door had a wind leak still only on super windy cold days. The backer rod behind the weather strip ‘fluff’ fixed that. You would never know now.

If your weather strip is still good and intact try adding the backer rod (a small flexible foam rod sold in rolls at big box) first. It should tuck behind the flap on the body frame weather strip. It, in effect, puffs the flap out so that when the door closes... it creates a better seal with the door.

The roller trick is for if your door is tweaked out of alignment like mine was.
