I’ve had my 21 TRD Pro for a week now and my only real complaint is that thing rides like a 70’s Cadillac. Lots of body roll and I’m surprised at how much slow bouncing is going on with Fox Suspension. Maybe Pro was not the right choice for me??? The valving and spring rates seem completely wrong.

Either way, I want to love this truck, but living up in the mountains and driving twisty roads, it needs to handle better. Brother in law has a Ram 1500 Big Horn and I’m always amazed how well it drives when I’ve borrowed it. I thought for sure the Pro would be as good or better with the suspension it comes with, but in my opinion, it’s pretty awful.

I plan to do front and rear TRD Sport sway bars (not sure why they didn’t come with this truck) but what else can be done to firm up the ride short of spending thousands on aftermarket coil overs and springs? I’m happy with the ride height and don’t want to lift.

My 300,000 mile 2006 Tacoma on original suspension handles better than this truck.

The only one that comes with rear sway bars is the TRD sport.
RAS will stiffen the rear spring and take out more lean around corners but it also add a small amount of lift on rear.

Install the rear sway bar and your boat ride will be cured.

If you only drive on road, sway bars will work. If you hit trails or uneven terrain, do the RAS in the rear like @Winning8 suggested. This will still let the truck articulate while limiting body roll.

I have both sway bars and I'm looking to go to RAS in the future. The sway aren't bad but it just makes things pretty stiff and doesn't let the rear articulate. I've been running them like 2.5 years so its not like its an issue, but if was doing it over I'd go straight to the RAS in the rear.

Unfortunately the sway bars won't deal with the front end bounce and wallow. Either way, I'll start there and see how things go.

I had assumed since Fox Remote Res was fitted, that they would be adjustable, but I guess Toy wanted control of the tune.

Make sure your front don’t have a red sway bar first, if it’s red it’s a TRD sway bar already

My work truck is a Ram, and I have the Pro shocks on my Tundra, so I definitely know what you are talking about. The Rams simply are amazing to drive, and it’s hard driving any other half ton after you do.

The red TRD sway bars should help, but another simple easy thing to check is your tire pressure and / or if your truck has the P rated Michelins that flex and sway far too much, especially at lower pressure.

Thanks. Running Nitto Ridge Grapplers at 39 psi cold and I believe those are relative stiff sidewalls.

I tow a 23 ft center console bay boat with my 2019 TRD Pro, and it rides like a dream. Only thing I did was remove the factory rear spring shackles and replaced them with + 1.5 inch shackles.
The shackles stiffened the rear springs a little and gave me 1.5 inches of much needed lift back there. Now my truck sits just right when not towing, and about level when towing. As for the body roll you mentioned, I have never noticed it with my truck. Yes, it has a soft ride due to the rebound rate built into the Fox Shocks, this is by design. I couldn't be more pleased with how my truck rides and tows my boat. Hope you can resolve your issue, good luck buddy.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not going to be towing with any regularity and when I do it will be a small 2 motorcycle trailer with very low tongue weight.

My local dealer had the TRD rear sway bar in stock and I talked them into giving me a discount because it was on the shelf for a while. Hope I'll have a chance to install it later this week or weekend. Seems like many have been pleased with this option. Might even do the front TRD bar in the future, we'll see

That's all good, except the ass of your truck will still be sagging, lmao.

The TRD Pro was probably not the best choice if on road handling and firmness was a priority. Due to the factory lift it also naturally has a higher Center of Gravity and soft suspension. I agree the sway bars should help out a bit however.

Front & Rear TRD Anti Sway bars!
The front red trd sway bar is much heavier than stock. Made a huge difference when i added both front & rear. Drives like a sports car now, i absolutely love it!

And the red goes very well with fox suspension

When I say "sag" I'm referring to how low the rear sits, it's almost too level from the factory, look at the Before and After pics. Then when you connect a boat trailer or load the bed with sufficient weight, you now have major SAG. In my case the shackles fixed that issue.

Good info to know. At the moment, mine actually has a small amount of rake. I might tow only a couple times a year with 1000lbs or less and about 50-100 lbs of tongue weight. After I get the Diamondback Cover fitted and throw some camping gear in the back, I'll go back and see how it's sitting and make an adjustment if needed. 95% of my driving will be on the road without any tow load, but if the shackles change the spring ramp, it might be worth looking at for me. Appreciate the insight.

Can't argue with that. V8 and Lunar Rock was my biggest priority if I'm being 100% honest with myself. Most of us spend at least 90-95% on the road and I have noticed on higher speed square edge hits, the valving wakes up and controls the impact much better so I'm definitely happy with that. I will be off road a few times a month but it will be at lower speeds. Rarely will it be anything even remotely technical.

No one is saying you can't off road your Pro w/a rear sway bar; you'll just lose some articulation of the rear wheels...

I recommend westcott designs for the front I think It will help stiffen the front suspension with there collar lift, I tried the trd front sway bar for 2yrs and took it off yesterday and way better. way to stiff for the fox shocks I found they would make noise (rattling/knocking) after I took off and put the original back everything is as smooth as butter :) and also recommend RAS in back.

Unless you’re doing extreme off-roading it won’t be affected. My off-road consists of fire & dirt roads, and if i ever encounter an obstacle i’m taking the easier route every time. I use my truck to get to off-road spots as safely as possible, My true off roading starts once i get on my mountain bike.

Remember majority are posers with 35 & 37 with 4 & 6” lift only to drive to starbucks everyday.

TRD pro suspension is for high speed dirt road anyway don’t need that much articulation.
