    Hey everyone,

I currently own a 2007 Toyota Tundra with the 4.7 v8. It is starting to get up in age and was looking at replacing at some point. I have tried to research whether I can put the 5.7 in it but I have not had any luck finding information pertaining to this. Does anyone have any experience or know what it would take to swap the engine in?

Without a donor truck, I would guess that it would be extremely difficult to get it to run right. But I might be full of it… ASFAIK, compared to the 4.7, the 5.7 came with a different transmission, rear end, ecu, mounts, radiator, transfer case and driveshafts (this one is a maybe, but I’m pretty sure yes as the small v8 sequoia also use a different T case), and possible even dash cluster. If memory serves, in 2007 the only 6 speed auto was the 5.7 while all other iterations were 5 speed autos.

So if you had a complete donor, you could make it work. If you had to pick parts, I’d say motor, trans, ecu, some wiring, radiator, mounts, and maybe transfer case are minimum requirements. I seem to recall a YouTuber swapping a 5.7 in to his Tacoma; perhaps you could watch the series and glean some info from that.

I'd vote to do it as well... You will need the entire engine and transmission as well as wiring harness and driveline. I don't think they cross over. Atleast not on the parts list.

what does "up in age" mean to you? some people think 150K on a tundra is high. the 4.7 will last forever with the proper, timely maintenance
