Couldn't really find much info on anyone doing this swap on their 3rd Gen.. for the gurus out there, is this possible? I imagine I'd need the steering wheel and the switch to turn it on/off, but is the wiring I'd need to plug into already going to be under the dash somewhere?

Can confirm that swapping the TRD Pro steering wheel in an already heated steering wheel-wired limited worked. I don’t think it’s just the steering wheel you’ll need however, the activation button needs to be installed. The wiring may already be in place however…try removing that button and seeing whether it’s blank or whether wiring is pre-installed? I have a heated TRD limited steering wheel available if you’re interested- T

Thanks, that's what I need to figure out haha. I guess I'll have to rip away at it and check sometime soon, unless someone can confirm which I'm hoping for LOL. My SR5 came with the nice leather steering wheel, but the wife complains about not having the heated wheel that she's gotten used to from all her past BMWs (first world problems )

For whatever its worth I have a MY22 Limited without heated steering wheel. I can confirm that it does have the wiring harness present behind the switch blank (as with the handful of other missing switches for various options.)

With that said, I'm not sure if there is anything more to the equation than just adding the button. I probably would have a done the swap already if it wasn't for the numerous complaints I've read about poor heated wheel performance.

I'm still tossing around the idea.. Hopefully someone that has done the swap from a truck that was not optioned from the factory with a heated wheel can chime in.

Strange, mine works great for me. But it is the only heated steering wheel I have ever used.

This is what I wanted to hear fellas!! Appreciate everyone chiming in! Guess I'll start sourcing my parts in the coming days/weeks then. That thread is actually what got me wanting to do this swap haha just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be more trouble than it was worth

I have a Limited TRD OR without heating steering. Are some of you saying all I need it the switch? The price for the wheels are the same, heated and non. That was the one thing I "ordered" and did not get.

    Interesting.
My 2024 limited TRD OF w/o heated steering wheel might actually be a heated steering wheel.
    Might only need the switch?

I can see the logic. On window sticker the heated steering wheel is only $150 extra.

Has anyone tried the switch with a non-heated steering wheel? Curious.
    ChuckL reports $122.
If it works then I would get one.

    Thank you sir

now the question is.. what are my options with SR model? Don’t really care about heating, probably not even an option with lack of wiring but as far as a leather wheel goes, is there certain models that can fit?

Hmmm I already have the leather steering wheel, just no switch. I may have to try this out and get a switch unless someone else beats me to it.. I'll follow back in the coming weeks

So to circle back, adding button alone doesn’t seem to do anything to the existing SR5 wheel. Looks like you need both to work

Was curious on limited trims + , I have one coming I will report back.

I ordered one from sparks but it’s probably won’t get here for a long long time, it’s “back ordered”

-side note my local dealer seems to be better at getting parts than sparks

Sparks definitely has their limitations. Their active inventory seems to be off too at times.

to add, I have heated seats in my SR5 if it matters. I was a bit hopeful it would work but now trying to gauge if it’s worth to get a limited wheel that came with heating option. Is there a way to cross check part numbers to determine heated vs non?
Not a fan of the TRD Pro wheel

I have softex interior, so it’s not leather. It looks the same as other trim steering wheels though (outside of the TRD Pro

Gotcha, I have softex as well, but the sticker for my truck, "LEather Steering Wheel" was a specific option listed, which is why I was curious. Thanks for the info though!

Did anyone follow through and install the heater switch on a non-heated wheel in a limited+ trim? Curious if it worked or not.

The window sticker upgrade is only $150 but a new heated wheel is closer to $800-900.

    I did.

2024 Limited, no heated steering wheel. I purchased the switch listed above: 84255-0R020. Installed in the correct spot.
I then ordered the TRD Pro wheel, and installed. I now have a heated steering wheel. I am almost positive you can do this with "any" Tundra heated steering wheel, just need to make sure to get the correct part. The switch did not work for my factory wheel, needed to get a new one with heater element. I read somewhere that all the wheels depending on trim and heater element have different P/N, this seems to be true.

If one wants to buy a heated steering wheel to do the swap, what is the part number for the heated steering wheel? I see some for sale on eBay from time to time, but they look the same as the non heated steering wheels. Are there any noticeable physical differences that I can look for?

the heating element part number is 864a1-08020

There are multiple different part numbers that reflect different stitching colors (white, red, blue, black). To be honest, I still can’t find the part number on the wheel itself but I looked for that module on eBay photos to verify it was heated.
