    installing electric seats
Hi, I'm switching from manual seats to electric. The passenger seat swapped out ,without a problem. the drivers seat has been a challenge . When I attached the white , white/black stripe wire only one part of the seat worked . I now realize there is a computer and a whole lot of issues. I don't need memory , or heated seats. just basic electric. Anybody have a suggestion ?

Is it OEM electronic seats? If so, what is the part number for both the driver and the passenger seat? Is the wiring harness already there?

    Welcome to the forum.

Which part of the driver's seat worked?

Are you sure the power seat you have is the basic power seat and not the one with memory?
The non-memory seat seems to only have the 2-wire connection for power/ground from a single fuse/ground.
    Probably like your passenger seat.
The memory seat has 3 power wires from 3 different circuits/fuses and a couple ground wires.

When you installed the driver's seat, was it plug and play or did you cut and connect the wiring?
The different seats have different connectors..
You can find the seat wiring diagrams and the connector diagrams in this link.

Ultimate TUNDRA Wiring Diagrams Collection | Toyota Tundra Forum (tundras.com)

If needed I can post them up..

There are MULTIPLE part numbers for the seat.
The entire seat doesn't have a single part number..

The seats came out of a 2022 Tundra in Oregon. I'm in San Diego, The air bags, harnesses, switches weren't available. The passenger seat wasn't a problem. I ran a fused wire from the battery to a fuse block to the seat. The air bags from my manual seats worked in the electric seats. The drivers seat has a computer etc.. lots of wires.

Not to hijack this thread but I was exploring the possibility of adding the memory function to my SR5 with the softex power driver seat and my thread didn't get a lot of traction. From my dive into the parts schematics it looks like I need at a minimum a computer that mounts under the seat and a door memory switch, but it isn't clear that I have the necessary harness to connect these or if that can be added somehow? And you seem to have said that the memory seat itself is also different from the non memory seat? Could you please PM me if you have a chance about this? Or post here if you believe it will be of general interest.

The non-memory seat is simple, 1 power wire and a ground.
It also has 1 seat switch that controls everything.

The memory seat has 3 power wires and multiple grounds.
It has it's own ECU and a different seat switch than a non-memory seat..
Plus is all intertwined with the outer mirror control ECU and the memory setting switch.
This seat is pretty complicated as far as just throwing into a truck not designed or OEM wired for it.

Look at the wiring diagrams above and you can see the difference in the memory and non-memory seats.
Each seat has different connections under the seat from what I can tell.
    And as stated in my previous post;
The non-memory seat has one power wire that runs everything.
Looks like the memory seat has 3 power wires.
Making a non-memory seat into a memory seat would be a pretty tough thing to do if it is even possible at all..
Plus is all intertwined with the outer mirror control ECU and the memory setting switch.
This seat is pretty complicated as far as just throwing it into a truck not designed or OEM wired for it.

Different trim levels are going to have different OEM wiring and connectors.

Thank you for your response and wiring schematics. It is going to be interesting. I'm leaning towards removing the computer, extra wiring, make it look like the wiring for the passenger seat . My problem is the manual seat is to tall. It is hard to get in and out of the cab. I'm not looking for a project.

@Capt Rock were you able to get this driver's seat installed and functional?

    Bump for this thread

that’s something that’s missing from my truck and I’m not sure why they did not include it with at least the passenger seat. It’s my wife’s complaint too cause she has to manually move the passenger seat instead is electric adjustments

Your truck is a completely different generation and completely different wiring than the Gen 3 (2022+) discussed in this section of the forum.
The wiring diagram thread linked has the diagrams for the 2018-2021 that will cover your truck. And luckily for you, the 2020/2021 TRD Pro trucks have a powered passenger front seat so you might get lucky finding a used/wrecked one that you could swap in

This is Capt Rock, just to bring all up to date. I installed the Elect seat with memory. I took out the computer ,cut the wires from the plugs as needed. hard wired the new connections. I had to purchase a new seat control [aprox 350.00] . I rewired it for basic seat functions, now I'm thinking about wiring in a controller for the seat fans, seat heater. A factory seat heat, air controller is about $750.00, + wiring harness etc... I have $55.00 tied up in a fancy controller, supplies. I'm starting this project on Thursday 11-02-23. I hope all goes well, I'm really happy with the seats. I will post when done.

Apologies in advance for being uneducated in how to read a schematic. I just picked up a power set of 23 seats, and I've got the rails fabricated to put them in a 21. The connectors in the 21 are VERY similar, with just a tab moved to prevent them from being plug and play.

Question, how do I know what each wire in the plug on the seat does? I have a color coded pin out for the 21, so if I need to move a couple of wires around, its doable as long as I know what each wire does.

Here's the plugs on the 23 seats....

I may have missed but do all sr5 have the wiring already set to upgrade to power? I’m running into the same problem to tall and way to uncomfortable.
