Hey guys I was looking into buying first gen tundra. Thing is, I’m not a huge fan of the round bubbly front end (sorry don’t kick me off the site for saying that haha). Was curious if anyone has ever swapped a T100 front end into the tundra. Something about the classic boxy square is much more appealing to me. I read somewhere about a guy who has done this in response to another guy wanting to do the conversion the other way around. But could find no photos or more info.

‘Shifty - I think the Sequoia swap on a FGT requires DC only. I saw a Turd Gen tundra with a Sequoia front end the other day and I gotta say that is the truck Toyota should now be selling. It really looked good. Of course I will keep my FGT and my 2.5 till they revert to dust…

Buy a Taco, put a 4Runner front end on it, and V8 swap it.

    Or buy a T100 and V8 swap.

I say just buy a T100 and put in a supercharger for the power.

They’re not that different, sure a little bubblier but if you find an early Tundra without fender flares…
What is it about the Tundra you want versus the T100? I had a T100 before the Tundra and what I liked about it was how simple and basic it was, moved to the Tundra because I needed something that could tow better and was 4x4 (which my T was not).

I love the front end of our trucks (especially earlier years with metal bumpers; the later-year color-matched ones are my least favorite). If you don’t like the front end’s curves or just something seems off, try replacing the grille and maybe doing an aftermarket bumper. For example, I thought I hated that generation of 4runner (4th?) that also had the 4.7L our trucks have and I saw one recently with an ARB bumper and it looks like a completely different truck.

What you’re proposing to do sounds a little nuts!

I agree 2000 or 2001 with metal bumpers is the best looking Tundra

As someone who own's or has owned both, I gotta ask why? I still have my '98 T100, I love it, I'll never sell it. I also grew up in my dads 2000 AC 4x4. They both have their pro's and cons but each is distinct, and I don't understand the want of putting the T's front end on the Tundra.

Now, like ScenicRoute was talking about, I'd very much recommending this on either truck, a first gen Tundra or a T100, like I'm doing to mine.

Where my T100 started, 16 years ago, to where it sits now, waiting for me to finish the SAS.

Hey thanks for all the responses. I’m mostly in it for the existence of rear doors on the tundra. Just really liked the look of the T100 front end that’s all. I figured they were pretty close in dimensions so swapping the fenders, hood, grill, bumper may not be so bad. I saw somewhere the biggest issue was the radiator support and how everything is based on that. Still sold on getting a tundra either way I may just get used to it. I used to have a 2005 regular cab it didn’t bother me much then not sure why it does now lol, so unless someone has any ideas to cut open the extended cab of a T100 I think the tundra is my best bet.

Give it a go - you could be the next pioneer to blaze new paths on Tundras.com, and you have a boatload of support from others who are interested in Frankenstein'ing shit together on here.

Truthfully, I don’t think the fenders will match up with the door of the Tundra. The Tundra curves in at the side moulding and curves out and back in at the bottom. The T100 is flatter in its side profile and won’t match the curves of the Tundra.

Give it a go and prove me wrong.
