Anyone see prices coming down or know where to buy a large oversized headunit?

I have been looking at the 10 inch Pioneer 8600. Seems that the price is about the same everywhere.

Been hoping the prices drop as inventory goes back up or newer models come out. Really want to upgrade unit and sound but not looking to break the bank.

I was debating between the Pioneer 8600 and the Kenwood 1057. Same price everywhere I looked ($1699 CDN), and then came across a random canadian company website having some weekly blitz sale, and the 8600 was like $300 less than everywhere else. Couldn't pass it up.

I did a ton of research on mounting in these forums, and got a pretty good flush mount. Still needs tweaking, but man on man, there is some good info on here.

Damn that looks nice. I've been thinking about going from my current Pioneer to an 8600.

Thanks! It's definitely not the cheapest option. And sadly it does not have built in nav. But I didn't wanna spend an extra 1k foe that when 99% of the time I'd be using android auto anyways. I love it, and the fact it's the only 10" that fits near perfect in that spot...

BTW, what did you do to your vents and surround? That looks sweeeet...

Yeah Nav units are expensive. I use the Waze app 99% of the time. It's a spray trim coating called SEM Trim black 39143. It's very durable, dries quick, and does not have a lingering spray paint odor.

@Ragnarkov your setup is exactly what I want. Love the look of the clean pioneer unit but having a really hard time stomaching the outrageous prices for the headunits.

Yeah, sadly all the bigger units from reputable companies are expensive, and the big units from everyone else cheaper but you take a gamble. I've heard mixed reviews on boss, even jvc.

If you like the flush look, you might be able to get away with the 9" pioneer. It's cheaper, but not sure how you'd fill in the side gaps. The 10" looks like it was almost sized to fit. I almost went with the 1057 to keep it kenwood (my amp is a kenwood x802-5) but the clean look with no buttons/no scratches won out.

But yeah, the costs where hard to swallow. That's why I jumped at the 300 savings on it.

Had the pioneer 8600NEX installed today! Love it and can’t wait to learn it fully…really liking that my wife and daughter can watch Netflix and cable tv while we’re driving down the road

on a brighter note I wonder if I can sell my factory screen? Does anyone buy those?

For all you Sony XAV-AX8100 owners out there, can you confirm it's truly PnP without the need for all the extra crap I'll have to buy if I go with say Alpine or Pioneer?

If you buy from TrailGrid Pro that I linked above yes it is 100% plug and play. They do all the prewiring of the needed install components and dash kit. You take out the factory unit and plug in the connectors and button everything back up and you are rolling.

If you buy elsewhere yes you will have to buy a number of install components and do some plug and play wiring.

The folks at TrailGrid Pro are top notch great communication.
