Has anyone used them for audio upgrades? Their reviews are hit and miss. I do like the plug and play option for the Tundra.

Here are hits for taco tunes in the audio forum. A quick look- not great feedback. Hit some of the threads and look at members comments

Dont....just dont. There's a reason why their name gets automagically turned into "*********" They re-brand very low end equipment with their logo and make adapter plates.

Also, the whole Plug and Play thing is pushing it. The only "PNP" part is the harness to connect into the existing amp location for speaker outputs, this isn't anything special that they do, tons of other shops/stores sell these too. You still have to wire a power through the firewall (hardest part of the install) for every amp.

A lot of us (myself included) went with James Randy Taylor of Tech12Volt. He specializes in Tundra stereos and has outstanding service and usually beats everyone else prices.
his website is a little bare, but best thing to do is email him (tech12volt@gmail.com) and let him know what your trying to do, what kind of music you listen to, and your budget and he'll put it together.

Here's another vote for Tech12Volt. @Danimal86 turned me on to them, and James was not only super pleasant to deal with, but beat pricing on every reputable, authorized dealer I could find. Communication was excellent, manufacturer had a fulfillment issue that delayed a week or two, he was on top of it the whole time keeping me posted. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Can't recommend them enough. The only thing I'd ever use TTunes for is their under-seat mounting brackets. I wish someone strictly focused on generic brackets for our trucks, but it's such a one-off product I dunno how anyone could ever make money on it.

Hard pass. I used them early on because of their old school rep with Tacomas. Found out they're not so good with Tundras. I bought a replacement "upgrade" amp for under the passenger seat, a bracket and harness. I'm still using the bracket and harness but the amp was garbage from day one. The customer service was no help and was adamant that the amp was fine (refused to exchange or refund even though it was brand new).

Should've went to James at Tech12Volt in the first place. I called him up after that Taco Tunes debacle and he had a few words to say about their products then helped me with a quality amp and threw in some speakers for nothing. Literally.

Yup! I didn't need a book, just to know we were still good. He was always on top of it.

I'd trust his reputation over TTunes' any day.

Just try to post a link from their website here...:eek2:

*********.com - Toyota Audio Upgrade Solutions

They sell, or at least used to, sell cheap rebranded LOCs and amps.
Although they do make very nice speaker adapters.
That would be the ONLY thing I'd buy from them..

Speaker housing adapters, or speaker wiring adapters?

Honestly, Crutchfield has equally good speaker housing and wiring adapters IMHO. Granted, IIRC, everything they sell is from Metra or similar, but it's included w/sale which is bonus. For inexpensive, mostly-plug-and-play builds, where you prefer someone else did the compatibility research based for your vehicle's audio pkg, they're hard to beat. 12Volt beat Crutchfield on pricing for me, though.

But you'll still need some basic wiring/wrenching knowledge and tools to hook everything up. As someone mentioned earlier, you'll still need to route adequate gauge of fused power thru the firewall depending for amp(s). As someone that's worked in that industry, if your confidence is super low, just find a good shop.

I find installs easy, but it's what I did for a living for a couple of years, and have continued doing at hobby capacity for 3 decades now. Just promise you won't be that d-bag who cuts factory harnesses. Fastest way to get me cussing ....

    Very overpriced.

+1 for Crutchfield. All headunits will have harness adapters and all speakers have wire adapters. About the only thing that wouldn't be plug n play is an amplifier.

    Speaker adpaters/spacers.

To fit a 6" round speaker in a 6X9 door hole.
Or extend the space to put a thicker speaker in an OEM door hole.

I see the cheap stuff on Crutchfield, the little thin merta spacers.
I first made my own with MFD, but even painted, they soaked up moisture inside the door.
So I bought a set of TT spacers.
They are made to order, they cut the exact sized hole one needs for their specific speaker.
I need to pull a door panel and take some pics.
They are really nice THICK plastic..

    Toyota-Tundra-6_5-6.75-Speaker-Adapter-H_c29796a68898589fd32383000f168cdc797b0001.jpg

Crutchfield is great with $10 returns.
But if you do return stuff, they red flag your account, delay your orders, and don't give you free 2-day shipping.

I see For most returns, Crutchfield can issue you an UPS Authorized Return Shipping (ARS) label for a flat fee of $12 per package.

But the rest sounds like speculation about flaggin an account...

Yes, they flagged my account for returning $4 items I didn't need on an install.
Even though the items were new and in unopened packaging, they say they have to sell them as scratch and dent items.

The next time I ordered something, paid for overnight shipping, and they delayed the shipping for 2 days because I was on their returns shit list.
I returned that and stopped using them.
Do you think I'm just making this shit up?

    Returns aren't free either dummy..
Returns - Crutchfield - Audio, video, and more. Since 1974.

Refund or exchange? You may choose an exchange or a refund for the full amount of the items you purchased.
Refunds will be issued to the same credit card, debit card, gift certificate, or other form of payment used in the original transaction.

Shipping costs. Return shipping costs are deducted from your merchandise credit or refund.

For most returns, Crutchfield can issue you an UPS Authorized Return Shipping (ARS) label for a flat fee of $12 per package.

Yes twice and like what they have done both times! Drove five hours for them to hook up a system for me and the Tundra sounds great!!:) very pleased with what they have done! Nice place to hang out and sleep, play pool, watch tv, they do meticulous work. Never have had any problems and their warranty is for the life of the truck!

How do you ACTUALLY KNOW that they purposely delayed shipping your order for 2 days because you were on their “returns shit list”???

Do you have ACTUAL PROOF of this or are you just speculating because you “think” that’s what happened??

    Meh...

I have TT amps, under seat bracket, speaker brackets, and a few "wiring adapters". Installed and tuned them myself and they work fine. I shopped around for everything else (ofc wiring, speakers etc) and got better pricing and no tax. I live in VA, so Crutchfield in Richmond VA charges me state tax. I like them, but they're very pricey. I got a custom sub box from netaudiowf that fits great (but they appear to be out of business now).

Summary, do your homework. Shop around. Don't be in a rush to buy car audio. Be weary of "1-click package deals". Learn how to properly install audio stuff DIY, even if you aren't going to DIY, learn what's involved so you know what you're paying for.

Ive used TT. Good guys, responsive. Never purchased their amps, only their brackets install kits.

Based on my discussions, they are still figuring 22 Tundras out. No one has a harness or interface out for 22 Tundras with the JBL kit yet. I use JL Audio amps only and on this truck I am doing JL Audio C7 speakers. I did focal speakers on my '17 1794.

I just purchased an enclosure from taco tunes cause I could t find anywhere else that would get me 2 12’s in a ported box for my tundra.. Anyone here think it was a bad choice? Looking for input because I came across them on YouTube and thought they seemed quality.
