Hello! I am a '12 Tundra owner (not looking to part with, just add to my garage) looking for a smaller Toyota for utilities work, and am looking at an older Tacoma or first generation Tundra. Is the Tundra much larger than the Tacoma? I need something that I can easily park in downtown areas. Just wanted to get the groups input please. I'm looking at an access cab model for size comparison. Thanks in advance!

About the same size, but the interior and bed space of the Tundra seem bigger.

I've owned both (2017 DCSB Tacoma which I think is no longer or wider than an AC, just a shorter bed, and a 2002 AC Tundra) and I live in a city (Atlanta) and I can say there is no significant difference size wise between the two when driving them around town.

Hows would you compare between the two as far as the interior pan heights and elbow widths?

My 2002 doesn’t park very easily going in forward. It does better in reverse. @speedtre has a good lock on the two it seems.

I remember looking up everything when I was thinking about buying my Tundra, don't remember the numbers but I seen to recall that the tundra was within a couple inches in length and width to a new tacoma.

I can't compare interior room but I'm a big guy and the tundra interior has all the room I could ever want (up front) the rear seat is a different story but thats okay, I don't put anything back there but the car seat.

The only issue I have with parking is visibility. A backup camera would be a good idea.

I have an 07 Tacoma 4 door long bed (6ft) I like it, but it’s merely adequate when it comes to power delivery and driving enjoyment. The Tacoma does have a much better turning radius. If you have around $13k-15k I recommend finding an 05-06 tundra access cab 4.7. In my opinion The Tacoma can’t touch the refinement of those trucks and those year model tundras have a lot more power then the 4.0.

Tundra felt much roomier...Tacoma always felt cramped to me....and I'm not that big...6ft/175lbs.

I'll second the backup camera suggestion... it's literally the only thing I miss from my Tacoma...I need to get one for my Tundra.

    We're twins :fistbump:

Same here, that taco felt like I was driving a Corolla. The center console seems invasive and somehow the floor to seat ratio seemed more shallow than the Tundra. Short drives no biggie but on longer drives I found myself shifting around a lot looking for comfort.

I drove a 4 door (2012?) Tacoma for work and own a 4 door 2006 tundra. The tundra makes more power down low and is way roomier. Higher feeling roof, spacier back seat, and fuller console. The Tacoma absolutely was easier to park and drive in cramped situations. If I had a tundra and wanted another truck to run around in, I would be looking for the smallest one... 4 banger taco.

Yep, length wise the long bed Tacoma and the ac tundra are close. The Tacoma is much narrower but the bed is deeper:cool: The tundra bed is quite a bit wider though.

But he's looking at 1st Gen AC Tundras...1st Gen DC Tundras definitely feel bigger (and are bigger in every way) than 1st Gen AC Tundras.
