You checked both fuse box location?
especially the one under the steering wheel. Fuse TAIL. Pull out completely and visually inspect.
If you did, then forget i say anything. Might have to take it in since it should be under warranty still.

Update::: So i looked under the dash and found the secondary fuse box.. checked the tail light fuse.. blown .. replaced the fuse. As soon as i turn my switch on it pops the fuse again…. Sounds like i have a short in the wire somewhere which i find very odd considering it’s a Florida truck with zero rust

    Alot of them
Maybe a short in one of the tail light bulbs? Pull the bulbs and check for any rust or corrosion in the sockets. Common problem since the taillight harnesses are exposed to the elements and moisture gets in them.

Also check your trailer harness plug. Water could’ve gotten in from rain.

Definitely check for rodents. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Still unsure if it was marmots camping a week earlier before check engine came on or a large squirrel at my house. They chewed one spot that was a foot taller than anything for it to stand on. My truck sits during the week. They chewed 2 gas lines, seam sealant in multiple places, wire harness sleeves all over the place, and through tail light harness.18002485-C8F3-40FC-96BC-437B7162472F.jpgAF9AEA19-61F6-44C4-AC24-7AA55119555B.jpg037744C8-36A6-4344-9BED-861437162FE0.jpg
A couple of repaired pictures below. Luckily Toyota had the new filler neck in stock online for quick shipping and other was standard fuel hose. I patched wires above spare tire and re-wire loomed about 8-10 areas where they didn’t chew through wires just the loom.

Any update on the fix? I have a 2018 with the same issue.

Late to the party but just dealt with this problem first hand after failing inspection for the reverse and license plate lights. Checked and all fuses were good. Also found that the plate lights and reverse lights are on the same fuse. Crawled under the rear bumper to check bulbs and/or remove the reverse lights themselves when I found the issue. Both lights were completely unplugged from the wiring harness. No damage and no signs of tampering…just unplugged and hanging there. The harness clip barely reaches the light port and when plugged in, there is a lot of reverse pressure pulling back on the connector. Once it dries out, I’ll tape the hell out of the connection to hopefully prevent this from happening again.
I would have included pics but it’s raining and I’m not crawling under there again today.
Wondering how long I’ve been driving around like this??…probably awhile.
