Tailgate wouldn't open so I removed the inner panel and discovered the RH side plastic clip (orange) that attaches the pull rod to the closure mechanism is broken. Checking the online dealership diagrams... it's difficult to decipher the exact part number. Anyone had to replace this and can share a part number?

There was someone who went to their local auto store. I think it was a Napa and got suitable replacements.

Perhaps @SouthPaw? It's been a while since it happened. Memory fuzzy.

I had a broken one too, I know i didn't go through Toyota, I wanted it fixed now. I sourced it locally and for me that would have most likely been Napa.

The black clip in this pack will work. The key is to insert the rod into the hole first and then snap the clip portion onto the rod after. Give Napa that part number and they can cross reference it for you.

Thanks for this tip, worked like a charm! It's like a little puzzle piece in an awkward location. I could not get my large paw to fit in there so I had a girl snap it all together. Tailgate works great now!
For future reference, if anyone stumbles upon this thread in need of help... this is the part I picked up from NAPA for about $4.00. Says "GM/Chrysler" but works well for Tundra too. Thanks everyone.

Good deal. I broke the first clip trying it the other way so I figured it definitely worth passing it on.

Toyota OEM or go home.

Better put some lube all up on everything since she is open. I did this lubing back a few years ago as a prevent measure when my Tail Gate Handle broke.

Thank you BubbaW for the parts. Found an easier way to put the clips on ... remove the two torx screws on the side of the tailgate and remove the latch. The plastic clips can then be VERY EASILY snapped in. Then add the bar and slide the (new very strong) clip on. Hope this helps the next person.
