tailgate retractable step issue

2022 Tundra Platinum

I installed a BAK Revolver X4s Tonneau Cover on a 2022 Tundra platinum. After install when I close the tailgate the retractable step stays open. I assume something is obstructing the sensor to show the tailgate is closed (shows open on the app as well). Any ideas?

Edit - found the issue. Theres a bumper seal on the cover that is slightly pushing back on the tailgate when closed causing an issue. Slamming the tailgate shut fixes it
