Traded a 2022 for a 2024. Tailgate release either on the key or the side of the bed click but the tailgate does not come down. Anyone else have this issue?

I live in South Florida. So it's not frozen.
It will open and I don't think it's stuck on the tonneau because I can use the handle and it will open.

Mine has been doing the same but it’s currently -4 so I assumed it was cold weather related. It seems it catches, if I try opening it after hitting the button or by the latch it seems one side is still hooked but not fully so there’s a half inch or so of play. My other thought is tonneau is putting just enough pressure it’s not popping open enough. But it’s too cold to try to figure it out

Having this same issue. Brand new 2024, thought it might be the tonneau cover being too tight but realize now even with the tonneau retracted, the side button release, key fob, and even a light pull on the tail gate handle do not allow it to fall open.

2023 was the sweet spot. Might have to trade it in again. Jk, no issues yet. Though it seems that if I read it on here, it's just a matter of time

I have a ‘24 with a roll up tonneau (Agri Cover Access Lorado). Mine does not catch at all on the cover. The tailgate drops every single time with or without the cover latched. I bought my truck in January and it’s seen temps ranging from 20°-75°

I have a MX4 cover and in the last week my tailgate release unlocks, but doesn’t fully release, but only from the key fob. Side switch and handle releases work fine. Fob used to work. I haven’t put much thought into it yet.

It's not due to temperature or the bed cover. It's an issue from the factory. I've got a friend with a '24 and no bed cover. His was doing the same thing. Took it to the dealer and they said they needed to lubricate it. I wish they would have specified where they lubed it, because mine started not opening and I've lubed it everywhere I can see and it didn't help.

@Bigphilski Have you opened up the inside cover of the tailgate? If it’s anything like the 2nd gen was, all of the linkage should be visible and you’ll see what needs lube.

I have a '24 with a tonneau cover and was having the same problem. I treated the top of the tailgate and the rubber seal on the cover with Chemical
Guys Hypercoat Protective Dressing and it now works every time. If you don't have access to Chemical Guys products I'm guessing any vinyl, rubber and plastic restorer would probably work as well.

I noticed if it parked even on the slightest down grade it won’t open.
