Hey all, we all know tech 12 volts is VERY popular around here(and for a good reason). I have searched high and low for pics of the double cab PORTED sub box they build. None, absolutely none, except one not so great one on the website. Remember, this is the ported version, not the very popular sealed.

Well hear ya go. I installed 2 10 inch tw3s. Box is a very tight custom fit. The jack and mount must be removed. You actually have to remove the spot welds for the jack bracket under the rear passenger seat. This box goes ALL the way to the back. Looks great.

Since the box goes all the way back, you cannot mount the amp on the back wall, the double cab doesn't have nearly as much room behind the seats as the crewmax. I placed the amp(with velcro) in a temporary position on the box. The seats still close all the way down. I wish I could have hid the amp further back, but then the seat wouldn't have closed. I already have my Punch 400/4 under the passenger seat, and my first aid kit under the driver's seat. I'll probably keep the amp in that spot for a while, and just put some wire loom around the wires to make it look better. The kicker KXA amp actually has a cool red led glow at night, so it looks kinda cool when I leave my backseat up.

What is the height of that box? Im building one tomorrow morning and I'd love to get the dimentions of it for reference. What is the mounting depth of those woofers too? I plan on having the same layout but Ill recess the amp down a few inches so it doesnt hit the seat. Thanks!

It's 4.25 inches in height, but It's custom built to the specs of 2 10 jltw3s. So if the amp was recessed it would alter the exact specs for a ported box for the subs. Tech 12 volts requires the subs you're going to use before the box is built. Hope that helps.

It doesnt help because were using two different size subs haha! My mounting depth is going to be 5.5" so it will be a little tighter to the bottom of the seat. I was hoping yours was going to be similar, but ill figure it out. My sub will also downfire because its going to be so tight if I end up having the box under the seat. If I can I want to try to get the subs behind the seats, as I had modded the seats to fold down. Ill keep you posted on what I do!

How many watts is your sub amp?
Does the sound meet your expectations?

    Looks great BTW..

Thanks! Im running the Kicker KXA 800.1. It's a strong 900 watts at 1ohms. I have the 2 10tw3s wired down to a 1 ohm load. They sound great! They won't sound like 2 sundowns, but for two shallow mounts, they get down.. The Kicker KXA amps also have the Bluetooth gain knobs, which are fantastic.

I read that the tw3s hit harder than w3s.... may have been a JL video. I’m jealous.

They have more excursion, but I don't think they hit harder. Don't get me wrong, these things slam, but they can't compete with a full size sub. I ran one kicker l7 solobaric 12 with my backseat up before this install, and they hit about the same.

I would do 12s. The option wasn't on the website, but I dont see why they couldn't build you the box to accommodate to 12s when the JL tw3s have the same mounting depth for the 10s and 12s

I have a pair of Focal Flax Evo 10" Shallow Subs. I'm currently building a custom sealed box under the rear seats. Focal requires .45 cubic ft. per sub. I barely have enough height to pull this off facing the woofers upward. I have more than enough space on the sides, but even with a shallow sub, you need clearance between the speaker magnet and back of the box. I will post pictures tomorrow to let you guys see how I designed and built it.

James made me one for a JBL 12in. Works great. AMP is under the passenger seat with his mount from a group buy he did last year for speakers and AMP.

At one ohm your amp may get a tad warm if you push it.

It does get warm when I slam these, but it never goes into protection mode. This amp is 1 ohm stable.. This amp is the perfect pair for these subs.

(This comment is not directed at you, just throwing my 2 cents out there-->) People talk crap and love to hate on Kicker, but Fosgate, JL, and Kicker make some of the best amps out there. There's a reason this amp was $500 for 800watts vs a $200 1500 watt sundown/skar amp. While those amps have some power, they are notorious for overheating...

Sure. I hear you. I only say that because it s what I ve concluded through my research for the last few years. When I first started buying audio equipment for the build I had in mind I got a rockford fosgate R600X5 5 ch amp. I know it s a quality amp. I ve never used it though. I decided to go a different route, and now I see they are discontinued. I guess it will sit in my closet colleting dust, and hopefully value. My build was acutally for two vehicals ago. I ve had to remove what I installed twice so as not to loose what I started with. Now I m trying to get it all in this tundra. My original intent was a R600X5 5 ch. with a 300 watt sub. I have a different sub now, and my build basically revolves around it. It s a cresendo contralto 10' dvc @ two ohms. I thought about going one ohm, but decided to run it at a four ohms. I payed out ass for a 1700w @ four ohms amp. An Apocalypse AAK-6000.1D. Now I need to go a different route because it takes three zero guage inputs. Hehehe. This never gets boring.:D
