My temperature gauge pops up half way when I start the truck and stays there. I replaced the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor so far. Any ideas what else would cause it to do this?

I wish mine would do that but realistically. Mine only ticks up to that point after driving 5 highway miles; just enough to pull into a parking space at work. I would think the coolant temp sensor you replaced is faulty. Maybe put back in the old one to check or is that a PIA?

Which temperature sensor did you replace? There are two, right next to each other: One for your gauge, and one for the ECM to read temperature. Do you have the part number you installed, so we know which you actually replaced?

Here's the OEM part numbers for the temp sensor, and temp sender from my 2000.

Verify these part numbers fit your truck.

The black one is for the dash gauge ("Gage"). That's the one you need to swap.

I checked Toyota's Parts system, it shows that part (8342020040 or 83420-20040 using the old style numbering) fits all 2000-2004 Tundras.

Be careful, buying on scAmazon or fleaBay, you're gonna get a counterfeit part. This isn't a part you want to fail on you.

What brand did you replace with? If not OEM, I would strongly reccomend that you order it also. Our trucks don't like Aftermarket electric parts
