    Help me understand...

From a practical standpoint, here is my observation:

    • difficult to climb into the cabin, especially when overweight
    • difficulty loading groceries
    • poor performance
    • poor fuel economy
    • faster wear and tear of components
    • added maintenance
    • marginally better off road capability

Last one brings us up to a question: why? Most of the roads these trucks are seen on can be easily traversed even in a toyota prius.

That last picture reminds me of the floods in TX a few years back where the reporter referred to lifted trucks as “High Water Vehicles” when they were helping to rescue people stuck in their homes.

RIP trannies. I remember watching one dude 'recovering' a flatbed with his Chevy. After lots of clicking and popping coming from underneath his 4x4, he limped home in third gear.

    "But...but muh mancard, bruh!!"

There's this wonderful thing that America has figured out, something that no other country on Earth has quite dialed in. It's called Freedom. It means you can do pretty much whatever you want with your money and possessions, and it doesn't matter what other people think. Want a Prius to feel like you're saving the planet? Go for it. Want a F450 long bed dually with a 14" lift and 44" mud boggers because fuck the guy driving the Prius? Rock on dude.

I like the ones who lift their truck mildly for looks, or the ones that lift it just enough to accomplish tires and purpose. When I look at a 4WD has a 6-12" bracket setup and can't safely run a trail - :duh:

No, there are other reasons. Each person is different. I like the looks of it, so I bought one set up how I like.

But I’m personally not going to take a 40K + truck that’s my daily and trail ride it. I’ll buy something older and cheaper for that.

But to each their own. Why does it matter what someone does with their money? Whether it’s lifting a truck, adding HP to their muscle car when you can’t go but 55 on the street, etc…

Not trying to come off defensive, sorry.
I do it bc I like the looks. I don’t trail it, don’t abuse it, and don’t have the money to fix it if I did!

However others do. And good for them!

I don’t have as much of a setup as that F350 in your first post. But don’t think for a second that if I win the lottery I wouldn’t have an F450 on an anylift sitting in my driveway.

Having owned and actually used heavy duty diesels, including a 500hp/1100lbft Duramax for what they are actually designed and sold for, this kind of stuff drives me crazy!

When I see these guys in lifted Powerstrokes and Duramaxes, I laugh. Especially when they have a drop hitch, and ESPECIALLY when all this is done to a dually. :censored:

Although there are some legitimate heavy weight boat and car rear receiver trailers out there, I overall don't know of too many receiver trailers or loads you’re going to need a 3/4 ton or 1 ton diesel for… Lifting it kills the entire purpose for having these trucks which is pulling a gooseneck or 5th wheel.

The real fact is that most of these guys never even pull anything. The 10 or 16 leveled anodized or matte black drop hitches are just another accessory to “look” hard to chicks who can pee farther than they can. Next time you’re at Lowes/ Home Depot and one of these guys is parked in the center of 4 spots, walk by and take a peek at their 2” or 2-5/8” ball and see if it has any scratches on it.

And these trucks are not made for off road, either. My last Ram dually weighed 9700lb loaded out. GM and Ford single rear wheel setups arent too far behind this. Having that weight coupled with 800lbft of torque or often more when tuned will sink you in your own back yard if not careful. Much less in sand or mud. Four wheel drive on these trucks is to keep you from screwing up, to help you get off the line at the ranch with a trailer in tow, or to maybe even keep you from sinking your shit on a steep, wet, boat ramp.

Below is a pic or two of my ‘18 Ram. Only thing added as far as stance was 2” front leveling blocks, Rough Country dampers, and some 33”Nitto Trail Grapplers. It looked plenty aggressive all while having no problem pulling both goosenecks and a 5th wheel for thousands and thousands of miles, and I needed no “rad bruh” drop hitch to pull the occasional rear receiver. Because we sold our 36’ 5th wheel and I’m not pulling any dump trailers or other goosenecks much anymore, I got rid of this thing and ended up in the Tundra. If I’m not gonna use it, I figured I didn’t need it. Now I have a half ton that can still pull the occasional trailer, gets good fuel mileage, and is somewhat capable off road when needed or wanted.

Anyway, sorry for the chapter, but I’m with you. I just never understood it either, but I guess to each his own. :notsure:

The bro lifts are as comparable to that Tacoma as they are to a Prius. There's a reason you never see huge lifted bro trucks on the trails  that Tacoma isn't lifted, it's solid axle swapped and built for wheeling.

With that said, I don't care what bro truck guys do with their shit. But pretending they're capable just because they sit 4ft off the ground despite being scared to go over a curb is always hilarious.

That's because they go sky high and put rubber bands on for tires. That curb will eat their $3k per ugly wheel for breakfast

Anything more than an inch or two and anything that doesn’t add travel is purely to look cool for their boyfriends, like it or not haha.

The correct way to add clearance for larger tires and greater suspension travel is to start cutting/chopping/tubbing, etc.

Obviously a lot of peeps don’t want to do that to a relatively expensive truck they just drive to work. Especially one that sucks off road from the jump.

But just swapping down travel for up travel more than likely is just making their vehicle worse off road than it was stock.

Few will admit it, but it’s to look “cool” for strangers is about it for 98%. Peace.
