The hybrids are involved in the engine recall, imo

The hybrids are of course involved in the engine recall, in my opinion, because they have the exact same engines. However, since the hybrids can be driven after a catastrophic engine failure, my guess is that is why they are not included in the SAFETY recall. It’s also my guess that Toyota will leave the hybrids off the recall and handle them under warranty as necessary.

With 98,000 recalled and call it 200 (idk) failures, that’s a 1 out of 490 chance of failure. Less than ideal, but I’m not going to worry about it.

Yes, I bought a 2022 hybrid because my utter pos F-150 gave up the ghost and I needed a truck. Used Gen 2s were no bargain, so I got the Gen 3 and an extended warranty as a first model year cya. The truck has been flawless for the first 26,000 miles (knock on wood) and per my habit I’ll keep it another 200,000 with any luck.

Well, no, they are not in the recall. At least not yet. Now, they may have the same underlying problem, but that is an entirely different matter.

Why don't you soothsayers wait till the end of July comes and get the true story from Toyota instead of your false speculations!

Owner of 23 Sequoia Hybrid which was manufactured in Dec 22, so I cut my oil filter yesterday. Trying to figure out if there are any metal shavings in the filter, but it looks pretty fine.

There really isn’t much speculation to do. If you read the NHTSA report, they flat out say that if the failure occurs on a hybrid engine, the vehicle still has motive power for limited distances. That’s why they aren’t included in the recall.

The speculation would be whether they eventually include them, which I believe they will. Either way, it doesn’t concern me much. The odds are I won’t ever have a problem, and if I do, that’s what my warranty is for.

I changed my oil at 1000 miles but from my understanding the block castings are different among the hybrids and nonhybrid models. I have a 10 year 150-thousand-mile warranty so I really don't want Toyota tearing a perfectly good engine and block down if not necessary.

You might want to double check that. Best extended warranty you can get is 10/125,000. No option for 10/150,000. Only thing covered that has 10/150,000 is the hybrid battery pack.

Assurant platinum coverage is 150 thousand miles or 10 years.

Yep I had one, a series kenmore rebrand with that exact compressor. It went out and replaced it with a whirlpool. This assurant warranty was offered through the dealer and at any dealer network selling them they don't have a deductible. Some of the dealers say that Assurant claims process is better and easier than toyotas. From what the service managers have told me who deal with both. I imagine the dealers wouldnt sell them if they denied claims, and wouldn't process them. The contract specifically spells out what they cover and what they don't.They might be more expensive but they are bumper to bumper warranty coverage for 150 thousand miles on toyotas.
