Yep, it's because they don't have all the bells and whistles everyone complains about not having. We'll see what the 2022 will bring with the speculated changes though.

Interesting, since MotorBiscuit site typically doesn't have much good to say about the Tundra.
Facts are facts (even when it is based on Consumer Reports o_O)

Same here. All my cars are Toyota. The last 5 have been Toyotas and before that my wife had 3 Hondas which were good also. I can't see myself buying anything else seeing how my friends and co-workers have to take their vehicles in for repairs all the time.

I couldn't follow that rambling jumpy mess very well. Why does the new Ram 2500 get 5 out of 5 despite not being tested? Do they just start every truck there by default and then drop the scores as they find problems? And how is 5 out of 5 not a perfect score for the Tundra?

I’m still trying to figure out what Toyota is missing in “bells & whistles” against the competition?

Can anyone answer me that? If comparing a competing lineup (like platinum/1794 to a Platinum/High Country/Denali/Ram limited), what is all these bells and whistles?

"While the 2021 Ram 2500 HD actually has the highest reliability ranking of all (5 out of 5), it’s still not been tested." If it hasn't been tested then how do we know?

"Plus, its overall score ties it with the 2021 Ram 1500, currently in the top spot. Consumer Reports gave the 2021 Toyota Tundra an overall score of 63." With how much praise and awards the Ram has received I find this to be an interesting figure. Ram is comfortable and has incredible technology but still might leave you stranded. Tundra is a dated and gas hog but will get you home. Consumer reports scores them the same.

Yes, I was wondering also. They said that the Tundra dropped from previous years, from 5 out of 5 to 5 out of 5. I assume it is a range, so the 2021 Tundra scored 63. Maybe previous years scored 68 or something, but both scores still fall in the 5 out of 5 range as it gets rounded. The second most reliable at 53 points scored 3 out of 5. And the untested Ram 5 out of 5. Weird

I mean, as much as I like biscuits, I found motorbiscuits to be fairly unreliable. LOL

Let's see, 360 camera, trailer backing system, heated steering wheel, bigger/ better nav/radio screen, 8-10 speed transmission, cylinder cut off, inverter in the bed, LED gauge cluster, a flat cargo area when the seats are folded up, step built into the bumper/tailgate, park assist, need I continue?

Have you looked at new truck lately?

I'm not complaining on what the Tundra doesn't have just that's it makes it more reliable that it doesn't. It's just enough for me anyways.

I had an F250 for 12K miles which had 4 recalls, two defective cameras, bad tpms sensor so how does that sound for reliability. On flip side it had incredible resale value less 1% depreciation over 2.5 years.

The 360 camera was nice but only needed since the F250 WAS HUGE. The inverter in bed (2017) was useless, would even power a battery charger for car battery. Heated steering wheel, I in Texas no need. No need for parking assist, Tundra has tight turning radius. Step in tailgate, sure it was 39.5" high, what a PIA!!!!! Mine had a 6 speed transmission which shifted a tad better than the Tundra, oh the Tundra was $15K cheaper.

Let’s not forget HUD, power folding/telescoping tow mirrors, lay flat down front seats, work station, and I’m sure a few more. o_O A bigger nav screen and 360 Cam would be nice.

Toyota offers a rear step, who would want cylinder deactivation, and 8/10 speed trans would be nice. Inverter in bed is worthless in my experience. I have a 400w inverter on a dual alternator system. Great for charging cell phones. Heated steering wheel is nice, but mostly not needed.

I have looked at newer trucks, just didn’t see anything that blew my skirt up. That being said, I also don’t own a tundra either. :anonymous:

the current Ram 2500 is consider a gen 4.5, the frame and suspension is about 99% identical as previous gen, while the cab is mostly the same, the biggest change is in front of the firewall and the dash, the bed is the same minus updated taillights, as a general rules, most issues we have with cars tend to come from production, not design.

So consider Ram 2500 has been produced on the same production line using mostly the same components throughout the year, the reliability scores are high.

Another thing that people like about 2500 (I like them a lot), is that they are much shorter than F250 and Sierra/Silverado HD.

    My Ram had:
    - 12" screen that is probably a decade or two ahead of Toyota's entune
    - Power adjustable pedal assemblies
    - Auto folding mirrors
    - Full length moonroof
    - all the lights are LEDs
    - 8spd transmission
    - rear locker
    - Heated rear seats

Overall, it's more attractive on paper, unfortunately that is what bring buyers to the dealership/website.

In real life the Tundra is a much nicer truck for me, which I think is a personal preference.

    Good points.

Not sure I would drop 4100.00 on a 12.1 screen, but it is very nice. One co worker says it’s very distracting when driving. I think he is a sissy.

Now the power adjustable pedals are nice. I had those in my 2005 Dodge and again in my GMC.

I would not want the full length moonroof. Call that a wash. Anywhere hail is a big concern....not a good idea.

Forgot about the rear locker. That is nice to have. Never really use it much though.

The screen is distracting, during XM it display album arts etc, I found myself multiple time look at it, the navigation screen is nice as it's full screen and display lots of info, but uconnect 4 can be buggy on navigation, android auto is only half screen which was bit wack.

The pedals is something I really liked, but its ok without, the moonroof was not my choice, but it was either take it or get one without 12" screen, to be honest the screen sold me the truck initially caused it looked cool.

gimmicks sell new trucks, reliability bring repeat buyers.

Rear locker is only thing that I would want. I had it on both my Tacomas. More useful on the 2wd one. On 4wd models it would only engage in 4lo. My Tacomas had inverters in the bed and useful for small tools but did not use often.

We all know our trucks are reliable compared to the others.

MotorBiscuit is crap. One of the worst auto related sites out there. I have literally read things they report that I know are completely false. Got bad enough I blocked them from all my feeds.

Cylinder deactivation is not something anyone should want. I want all my cylinders all the time. Don’t want half of them taking a smoke break whenever it’s convenient
