I see Corolla’s and Camrys and every other Toyota with a TRD PRO trim. Seems like it’s turned into a mockery. I see the PRO on the cars and it makes me laugh.

I think Toyota should have reserved that badging for their off-road capable vehicles.

While I agree that the off road line should have its own special branding category, seeing TRD Pro on their other vehicles doesn’t seem odd to me. It’s no different than SVT, which is just the highest end performance edition of whichever Ford vehicle it’s on. There are SVT versions of cars and trucks, TRD Pro is Toyota’s version of that. It does mean Toyota Racing Development, after all.

Again, not disagreeing with you completely, but I don’t think a TRD Corolla is tuned for off road use. That’s not all TRD is for.

Doesn't TRD just stand for "Toyota Racing Development"? I don't think it's limited to off-road.

    This is true.

I've always thought the "Pro" was a pretty stupid name. You aren't paid to drive them.

The GR line is a lot better from the specs I've been seeing.

Pro, vehicles boast specialty performance equipment designed and tuned by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) to help boost the Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner's off-road credentials.
Pro is only on Off-road vehicles.

TRD, is Toyota's in-house motorsport and road car tuning department.
    It was established in 1976.

    Hence, TRD PRO

Camry and Corolla do not have a Pro trim. You're higher than a giraffe's nut sack.

TRD trim is appearance on cars . Pro is the fancier offroad on the trucks

GR is the performance trim (and soo the GR corolla will be here)

Yea, I see that they are not all PROs. I stand corrected. I guess I see TRD Corolla’s on the road all blacked out with special wheels and that’s what I am going off.
However, very few things separate the PRO vehicles from that Corolla. Performance wise I can only think of suspension. Not much else.
I guess I feel like if Toyota is gonna call their PRO line of trucks PROs they ought to put a bit more into them other than some cool badging, a shift knob and some other fluff so they don’t have their little cars parked next to them with essentially the same upgrades.
    Just an observation.

What is really ridiculous, is what people are willing to pay just to get the pro badging. Don’t get me wrong I like the badging and styling cues, but they are not worth the cost. I took my limited way beyond the pro, and am still well below what a pro entry cost would have been.

Toyota watered down TRD. It's an appearance pkg for most models.

TRD Pro is definitely not worth the cost.

I think Toyota realizes all of it. Hence the creation of Gazoo Racing.

I hadn't heard of Gazoo Racing so I was just reading about it. The new Hilux GR sounds exactly like the TRD Pro in the Tundra - different suspension and styling.

Agreed. They are creeping into Raptor prices and to my knowledge that Raptor is much more capable off-road.

I believe the RAV4 had years of PRO which is ridiculous. I personally think it’s a stretch on the family moving Sequoia as well.

Edit: looks like the RAV4 was “Off Road”. Still the same cosmetic upgrades.

The pro in the 4runner platform is just a little lift with a cooler roof rack , the predator steps just suck , I had to order a set of White Knuckle sliders to get any body protection .
The regular non Motörhead thinks pro is better , I have a neighbor was drooling over the pro … Just left him think its a lot better .
