Hi there. Beginning to do my own maintenance on my 3rd gen tundra. Learning as I go so far. The car care nut on YouTube has really helped Looking to clean my throttle body but having trouble locating it. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you.

The throttle body is in the back of the engine. To get it off you probably have to take the whole intercooler out its buried in there. However if the dealer said hey we'll clean your throttle body for the like 125 bucks or what ever I'd be skeptical they actually do it because it seems like an hour+ job.

Thanks RLC. I was able to locate it. Should’ve taken a before and after but it’s looking really good now. Not as bad as I thought. Truck feels a lot better.

Sound good, did you have to remove the intercooler to remove it? Seems like a DYI Nightmare.

I know this is 9 months ago, but I also would like to know the a$$ pain (or hopefully lack thereof) it was to get to and clean the throttle bodies. I just had my 25,000 service and they recommended TB cleaning. They quoted my $90 to do it, so of course I went ahead and had them complete the task. But, if it's not really too much of a big deal to get to them, then I will do the cleaning myself. Hopefully you see this message and don't mind replying. TIA.

My bad. I thought that is what I originally did. Not sure where/how I screwed the pooch on that one.

A dealer will barely open the hood half way for $90. They probably just dumped in a bottle of STP cleaner and called it a day.....o_O:thumbsup:

@DRP I am almost 100% sure that's exactly what they did. The fact that from the time they told me the tasks they recommended and I told them to do it, I was in my truck driving away less than than an hour later, there's no way they were able to get to each throttle body, much less do a proper cleaning. This is why I would really like to know what is entailed in getting to each TB to do a proper cleaning. I will NOT pay them $90 every 15,000 miles + or -, for them to just dump cleaner in the tank, or even to spray cleaner down the pipe to the TB.
