Should I disconnect negative battery terminal before tb and mas cleaning? On my gm that's standard procedure so computer resets or recalibrate to new cleaner better flow etc, assume it's same for my tundra 5.7

You don’t have to it will just take the ECU longer to get back to baseline. After cleaning the TB the idle will be noticeably faster and will slow to normal. As the TB gets dirty the ECU will speed up the idle to compensate

I get why OP is doing this.

When I was looking at the car fax on the 2018 I bought. It showed a Throttle Body and Induction cleaning at a 28,000 mile service. They also replaced the front brake pads, resurfaced the rotors and did an alignment plus Oil change. I thought the Toyota dealer was taking the previous owner for a profit ride. The truck was only 4 years old at the time.

Is there an issue with the throttle body and induction system that requires maintenance this early in the Tundra's life? I was surprised to see the brake work being done that early as well.

Not uncommon to clean tb at almost any miles just buildup of dirt and black carbon, probly gas quality and whatever else, brakes at 28k, my wife can go through them in 1/3 of that time, and yes the dealer loves to charge 75$ for fuel system clean without even looking to see if it's dirty

I have had 2 ford Turbo motors and my work truck is the chevy 2.7L turbo motor. None of them required induction or throttle body service and no issues with how they run. I buy the cheapest gas I can find at fill up time.

Although the early years of Ford Turbos some had to replace a defective throttle body.

I find it weird that on old school NA motor like the 5.7L would need it. It's not direct injection.

Are dealers making some extra cash on folk's paranoia?

If you're doing it yourself at home, then no such thing as too early. It's preventative maintenance.

The PCV recirc of vapor is dumped back into the intake. That is what causes the throttle body plate and throat to accumulate some carbon and oil residue. It’s easy to clean at home and worth the few minutes it takes. Spray the cleaner on your rag and not the plate to prevent moisture intrusion into the motor or sensor mechanism. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s probably not very dirty at 30k miles though. It’s definitely dirty on my vehicles at 80k miles. So something in between is probably a good idea to prevent the buildup.

About 4 months ago at 160,xxx miles I changed out the PCV valve for an oil consumption issue, while at I cleaned the MAF, TB, and installed a new air filter. It made a Huge difference in the smoothness in the idle, quicker acceleration and the mpg's went up by 1.5 mpg. It took 40 minutes to do and about $ 25.
