Anyone know the most common reason for tire cupping on 2017 Tundra? I added a pair of 285/75/18 Cooper STT pro tires to my Tundra and the front driver side has noticeable wear from cupping. Nothing done to suspension as far as lift or new shocks, or leveling kit. All stock suspension. Any help would be great!

Did you do wheel alignment after installing new tires?

bad alignment usually. Can be worn suspension parts, bad wheel bearing, but most likely alignment

    Alignment or air pressure.

    Alot of them
+1 on both. Cupping is fairly normal on these trucks.

I installed ko2’s on my 2020 tundra the day I bought it. I went roughly 6000miles without rotating them and the edges started to cup on the otter tread blocks. My 16 year old Tacoma with 300k on the odometer doesn’t do this. I assume it’s the nature of the beast. Rotate tires more often.

however if it’s only doing this on one side of the truck, you likely have a worn component, ball joint, wheel bearing, tie rod, suspension etc

Bad alignment, low pressure and spirited cornering are your likely suspects.

Mine were caused by worn out tie rod ends. Happened quick too.

Tires were aligned when they were installed. Going to get alignment checked. I was told nothing obvious was wrong with uca, shocks, tie rods, etc

Good alignment and maybe go to 3-4000 miles on rotation. I had a set of BFGs All terrains that I had to rotate every 3000 miles due to cupping never had another set of them. All my mud terrains I rotate faithfully every 5000 miles so far never had any problems.

Bump up your pressure...especially in the front if primarily driven unloaded. I run 285/70 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with 44psi in the front and 38psi in the rear when unloaded or not towing. Rotate every 10,000 miles. Currently have 40,000 miles on these tires and they look perfect at around 50-60% tread remaining.

Rotate every 3k I was doing about 5k on my old tires and they did that. So I’ve been doing them sooner and no issues on my new coopers

I’m also totally amazed you got 285/75/18s on a stock suspension I wonder if it’s not rubbing somewhere and that’s causing the cupping.
