Looking for recommendations and thoughts on replacing stock tires. I have a ‘23 SR5 CM TRD OR with the 20” TRD wheels and stock Falken Wildpeaks. My driving consists on mainly on road with some off-road that is sand/beach. I need to have good wet road traction and some snow performance as well. I do not plan on adding a lift, leveling, or spacers. I like the wheels and will likely go with 275/60 or 275/65 size. My question is about your experiences with various tires and specs of those tires and what may work or what to stay away from. Appreciate the input. Thank you.

Michelin defender is a great road tire and excellent in sand. Very smooth, great tread warranty, M/S rated but have tame looks if that matters to you.

Ran a set on one of my 4Runners. Absolutely agree with this. They also were decent in the snow.

I third the road oriented Michelins recommendation. I had a set of LTX M+S on my Tacoma. Great wet traction, good snow traction, went off roading in the deep sand of the NC Outer Banks beaches, lasted 70,000 miles. I may not try to duplicate those beach runs in the Tundra, however, with stock sized tires because they are not any wider than those on my Tacoma, that weighed a lot less.

Thank you I would like an aggressive looking tire but don’t want a rough ride.
As for size I have a 2023 and would definitely like a size wider and bigger. The stock tires look awfully small.

Unless you are doing serious off roading "aggressive looking" tires are a total waste. Worse ride and MPG, for what??

May not like the aggressive "off-road" look but I am really loving my Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP in 275/65 on my 20" 1794 rims. They are very smooth and little to zero road noise. Way better ride than the factory junk.

Most of my off-road is OBX and have had my 2.5 gen Tundra out there with all terrains but aired down to 18 psi and floated on top. The Defenders look interesting. I will check them out. Thanks for the reply.

I just picked up the new Falken Wildpeak A/T4W for my ‘24 Platinum with stock suspension. Went with 275/60r20 as it seemed the best size for my situation. I’m exactly like you, just wanted to feel out the wheel well and look a bit more aggressive (while sticking with SL and not going to E). Wildpeak A/T3W got great reviews and the brand new A/T4W should be even better (with a longer warranty to boot). Plus at the deal of $280/tire, it was cheaper than other options!

Have you used them in the snow yet?

The reason I ask, is because I am really interested in this tire but the winter performance seems to get mixed reviews.

I am not looking for winter tire performance here. Just a decent showing like the Michelin Defender…but OP I will say for a highway tire the Defender is downright amazing at winter conditions. Not that it can compete with a winter tire, it can NOT, but it performs beyond great for a highway tire in the snow/ice.

Edit: And in all honesty OP disregard what the tire looks like…

Again using the Defender as an example. It will handily outperform the vast majority of the “more” aggressive looking tires on the market in the conditions you describe up till blizzard conditions (yet they still have always gotten me home).

I appreciate performance over look’s especially with my little kids in the truck.

I live in Alaska, but I only drove them in snow for a day or so, then I switched over to my winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzaks). They dealt with the snow about as well as any All Season tire that I have used before, which is to say that they will get you around, but you aren't going to have great control like a dedicated winter tire will give you.

I would look at Toyo AT3's 285/65/20's. Great tire...low road noise. LT rated. If you go to E rated tire, it will change the ride, they are heavy tires. LT's are the sweet spot if you don't "offroad" much and mostly highway.

I recently purchased the Yokohama Geolander G015. Have been very happy with the purchase. Check them out at the Yokohama site.
    https://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/geolandar-a-t-g015

They ride smoother than by previous BF Goodrich tires on highway, have a 3 peak rating, and can handle ok off-road. There is a really awesome review of all the top all terrain tires on YouTube that really helped me decide which tire most suited my needs. Have a look it may help you out as well.

I got these tires (maybe a size larger...) I'll check the size tomorrow.

Handles great, looks a bit more agressive and so far I like them. They dont weigh in too much more than stock so MPG wont be destroyed.
Haavent gotten any snow yet so I cant comment on that.

I was figuring the more aggressive tread pattern the better in rain, snow and ice.

The best 'wet' traction tire I've ran is Michelin LTX AT2s... I'm on the OR coast and spend most of my time driving on the 101, and these tires have yet to fail me in wet weather, and while I drive appropriate for the conditions I prefer to have good confident traction in my normal environment; these tires have always served me well. In snow and ice, they are probably a step down from something a bit more aggressive such as the Wildpeaks or Mickey Thompson AT. If you're going to spend any reasonable time in snow/ice, I'd suggest running dedicated winter tires such as the Blizzaks. For normal highway driving they are smooth, not noisy, easy to balance, and not a heavy tire which I believe you should factor.

If you want to see them perform in a variety of conditions check out this video of a stock Tundra Pro (2.5 gen), w/stock suspension, and OE Michelin LTX AT2s. They run the truck in the sand, off-road, do a bit of rock crawling (fairly impressive w/a stock rig), highway, mud, water, etc...

    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3u3j0l

At the 12 minute mark they take the truck to Hell's Revenge and do some pretty impressive crawling w/the OE Michelins, but the whole video gives you a good idea on the performance capabilities of the tire in a variety of conditions.

Honestly, these tires will outperform most drivers' aspirations and abilities

You are pretty safe with stock rims and tires up to 295 width, <35" dia. For 20" rims, this would be 295/60r20 which are 33.9" nominally. 295/65r20 is 35.1", but that might be fine on a 3rd gen with no lift.
