    Hi!
I had an RC 1.5" level kit installed on my 21 SR5 and now the front tires rub when turning sharp. Is that normal?
    TIA

Do you have front mud flaps, if so pull those off first and see if it helps any. What size tires did you go with? I just put the RC 2.5-3 inch leveling kit on my '08 and put 33s on it and they rub when turning sharp still after pulling the mud flaps

you had the front end alignment done after the install?

Rub points would be the front little air flaps in front of truck, mud flaps, possibly sway bar or skid depending on wheel offset and tire size. What size tires and wheels and what wheel offset if not stock?

I had a Pro Comp leveling kit installed on my 2014 and during the install they had to trim underneath where it wouldn't rub. It only rubbed on the right side when turning sharply. Not sure this helps. Im not 100% certain what wheel offset I have but they did offset them too.

I am running 35s on the truck.

My tires are the stock Michelins. I put new wheels on it before the level kit and had no problem. The alignment was done with the kevel kit. The guy at the shop did say they were rubbing on the mud flaps. But why? I don't buy it or don't get it lol. Why does that happen when the only change is the level kit? I don't know the offset.
Thanks for you wisdom guys! I appreciate it so much.

Because you are changing the geometry of the suspension. When those angles start changing you can get rubs when you previously didn't, even with the same wheels and tires.

    Look at this image below.

When you get a level kit or lift, etc. you are lengthening the coilover (C) with either a new coil over or spacer. To accommodate that being longer you are pushing both control arms (both marked A) apart, but they are attached to the vehicle at the same point as before. This makes them pivot slightly downward, and that pivoting moves the wheel and everything else in an arc around the circled points below. As it moves up or down, it also moves inward a bit as shown with the arcing arrows. This pulls the wheel and tire in a bit, and now when you turn you are rubbing because your wheel is actually in a different position.

Sure thing. I wasn't sure I was explaining it very well, but I'm glad you could piece it together from my jibber jabber!

hi - what a great job explaining this! I consume a lot of great material on this site, but don’t get a chance to contribute often. I’m considering getting an RC leveling kit and your post here helped me understand what’s involved. Appreciate it!
