As we all are aware is that toyota uses the tnga frames for all its body on frame vehicles globally. My question is and I hope someone can explain this, how can the same frame on my tundra be the same as the new tacoma frame? Also the same frame as the new landcruiser and most likely new 4runner? I guess I'm looking for more of the technical side of how toyota achieves this with so many models using this frame. Thank you for any insight to this.

Well not sure why I did not think to ask google but I did and I mostly got my answer. hahaha

Perhaps it was designed to scale in/out as needed. They have a parametric model, where you say what you need and the software generates a frame that will fit the needs. It is a different frame, but it uses the same digital model and goes through the same computations.

It's catch up game, of course, since more advanced vendors use it for at least two decades. They build a whole model line out of one digital model.

one would think putting a mid size body and underpinnings on a fullsize truck frame would not make sense. So you are probably right and it does make sense. Also found tnga F platform is used for all body on frame applications just different codes for every different model.

The frame rail width is narrower on the TNGA frame than the previous one. This is how it can be used on a midsize truck. And for length, they just extended the frame center section depending on the length of the vehicle body. Some sections/cross members are modified for each model but the basic architecture is the same.

I found this on another forum

Anyone know what toyota use to paint their new tnga frames from factory? The black finish looks better than the 2022 tacoma I had before, it's more "gloss" looking and looks more durable. My new 2024 tundra, picked up last week had a scratch on the rear frame, not sure how it happened, most likely from transporting, but I'm looking to touch it up before I apply undercoating on it, I know I probably don't have to cause undercoating cover it anyway, but I prefer to.

do you think they have some "special" way to fix this or just spray one of those paint like we do? If that's the case I rather just do it myself and keep the paint for next time when I need it after overlanding or offloading. The dealer is about 1 hour away.
    Thx for your reply bro.

I just think on a brand new truck let them handle it and most importantly get it documented in case something happens later, then you don't give them the excuse, well you did this repair blah blah.

Oh no, a frame damage, they will total your truck!

C'mon, it's just a scratch. Not even metal deep.

lol I know it's not a big deal, that's why I'm gonna treat it myself. Just wondering what's the best "spray" I should use for this frame.

I would just spray it with a high quality black gloss. One day of rain no one is going to see it anyways
