Hey all. I just got my EZTag front windshield toll road sensor stick-on. I want to mount it in the ideal location. My 2021 has the giant black safety sensor thingamabob, behind he mirror. The regular mounting location is 4" below the top of the windshield to the right a bit of center line. The windshield has the "frit" dot pattern band. Has anyone mounted such a toll road sensor and If so, where? Mounting it under the frit pattern alter reading ability? Ugh. Assistance please.

I'm in the same boat. Don't have my tag yet but I'm planning on mounting it such that I don't see it. If below the black blob works, great. Otherwise I'll probably put it right next to the blob on the passenger side.

I don't think the position matters - but that's just my guess. It seems like RFID technology, it's not just a sticker.

Position doesn’t matter. It’s an RFID tag so it’s responding to an electric field generated by the reader. No line of sight is needed.

I placed mine below all that mess, hidden from my line of sight by my rear view mirror, no issues using it here in okieland or texas.

I put mine right behind the rear view mirror and haven’t had any issues with it at all.

I don't think it matters too much. Mine is just up behind the mirror. Just remember if you have a paper plate to update it on the EZ Tag site. Not all toll stations use the EZ tag rrader. Some of them still read the license plate.

like others have said, I affixed mine just below the rear view mirror mount. it is out of sight and still works on the toll roads.

I am halfway between Houston and Galveston. My EZtag is mounted just to the right of the black doohickey thingy and no problems with the county getting my bill to me:

I have mine mounted on the windshield dotted section, which is also covered with window tint film.

It was mounted like this on my 2010 for 7 years and on my 17 for two years so far with no issues.

Additionally I took the bullet of knowing I will not get my $25 deposit back if I ever need to return the tag. I painted it satin black so it is not visible from the exterior.

    I’ll post photos later.

We had concerns about ours as well. Since we have recently moved to an area that actually has toll roads. They say they require it to be precisely 4” from the top of the windshield. However, we called and asked. They said that it can go behind the passenger side of the rear view mirror, with the top of the tag lined up with the bottom edge of the black dots.
