I’ve been GM my whole 38 year old life except for a stint where I was driving 80 miles each way to work and had a new 08 corolla. Drove the shit out of that thing—45k miles a year for 3 years and never did anything to it.

    That’s what I’m after.

I received a decent bonus when my company got bought so I bought what was my “dream truck” — a ‘15 Silverado High Country with 28k miles and around the same time leased a ‘18 Traverse. Truck: The roof leaked twice. Electric problems. Tailgate hinge issues. And a transmission that saw the shop 5x before 50k miles. It was the first year of the 8 speed and it clearly sucks. Traverse we have driven 25k miles and tons of transmission issues (first year of the 9 speed) — 3 TSBs. I’m done with GM.

Going for reliability and downsizing—$1200/mo on cars that aren’t reliable was miserable. Sold my truck months ago for a 2002 Camry cash with 55k miles on it and it’s been amazing.

Tomorrow we’re trading in the Traverse for a 2013 Tundra LTD with 85k miles.

Have been reading. I like more of a stock look but will likely get a lift/level, tires/black rims when it needs new tires, upgrade the radio to a carplay unit and put remote start.

What should I be worried about from a reliability perspective? Clean carfax, driven in VA/TN (will get rustproof undercoat), good service records. Has a sunroof and power rear window which wife loves but I view as two more “leak points”. This has all the awards for reliability but curious to know from owners first hand.

I look forward to learning and contributing. Hoping this is a great truck my 9 year old drives one day.

    cheers!

It will be a great truck especially if it has been taken care of. I have a 13 DC 4.6 with 95,000 miles. Only thing I have done maintenance wise is brakes, oil, and battery. Never been into a shop for maintenance. I will warn you though that you will see a decrease in gas mileage compared to your other vehicles.

Thanks! Good to hear and damn...I want to copy your style that’s exactly what I had in mind for wheels. Soon-to-be-mine is red too it’s a CrewMax. Mind telling me brands for your fender flares and rims/tires? Is that a 3” lift?

Mine is the Barcelona Red Metallic. The flares are Bushwackers that I had Line-X'd along with the bumpers. Wheels are Fuel Maverick 18x9 0 offset. Tires are Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 285/70/18. The lift is Toytec Aluma 2.5 coilovers, SPC UCA's, Toytec Boss shocks with resis, Toytec shackles at 1.5, and 1/2 inch axle shims.

Awesome thank you! Mine is the Barcelona metallic as well and I was actually looking at some Helos but those look great. Amazing looking set-up you have. I hope to be able to pick your brain a lot!

    Cheers from Ohio, George.

Brought her home today. Rear brakes were rubbing a little so the dealer replaced them for free (nice!).

First order of business— Kenwood DMX9707S with Maestro module which is in delivery. I can already tell I’ll be more than fine with that unit along with the JBL as long as the factory amp/sub are retained with the install (at least will be fine for a while ha).

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Welcome from East TN! I went from a 2013 GMC Sierra with 66,000 miles to a 2010 CrewMAX Tundra with 109,000 miles about a year and a half ago and I can tell a huge difference in quality. I'm with you 100% on sun roofs and leak points but I've had no issues. These trucks are great and this community is fantastic! I hope you love your truck and much as I love mine.

Edit- I just saw where @dirtydeeds is having a sale till the end of June. I highly recommend looking into it. Keith runs the shop and is great to talk to about Tundras. Dude knows his stuff!

3 owners was the only thing a little concerning. But I’d rather see a carfax with 3 owners and maintenance records than 1 owner and no maintenance.

Beautiful ride! I have the same wheels as you, but mine were powder coated black by the previous owner. My truck has 305/55/20 toyo RTs, and it’s completely stock suspension. Amazing what a set of tires will do to the look of the truck.

i love that color. I was torn between cement or Barcelona red. Should've gone with the red as cement seems more popular.

Wow what a difference. I had to zoom in a lot to make sure they were the same wheels. No changes needed to stock at all; just remounted them to the larger tires?! Crazy how different that looks. I’d go do that tomorrow if my tires didn’t have only 5k miles on them.

Feels like I should deprioritize it for a little bit of tire wear but nice to know I don’t have to have a huge budget for it to look that good. And I might not be able to wait that looks great and would seemingly save me $700 or so.

here is what I’m (very tentatively and guesstimate on budgets) planning (in order of attack). Your post might shuffle things around:

    Kenwood upgrade $1000
    Remote start $300
    Rust undercoating $400
    Fuel/helo/bmf 265/70/r18 with tires ~$2000
    Leveling/slight lift ~$1500
    Flares $550
Line X bumpers, inside grill, wheel wells, and flares $500
    Paint match handles/mirrors/outside grill $500
    Update speakers $600
    Wireless charger/center console top $150

beautiful truck! I must not have the Barcelona like you do (it said barcelona on the listing) because that looks a little different shade ...I like my color either way.

Def have to update the size tires I was targeting. I wanted to avoid trimming, etc. Doesnt look like you had to here with the level/lift?

Compustar treating you well? I haven’t heard anything definitive about remote start. Heard good things about a couple brands (ie viper). I need a pretty no frills setup there in $200 range.
