    Hey guys,

For a 2021 tundra DC 4x4, I'm looking for a bumper and grille guard to protect against deer strikes. I live in the chihuahuan desert and we have a lot of deer strikes. At the company I work for, we have around 10-15 deer strikes per year going to or from work, with around 220 employees, so its not an abysmal risk. Looking for a full bumper replacement that includes grille guard, preferably one that works with front parking sensors and adaptive cruise. But willing to give those up for protection if needed. Is there a way to turn them off, or will they just not function, or give warning lights?

Looking to lift 2-3" and 35" tires if that matters. Will install skids as well in case the deer goes under.

We have huge desert mulies up to 300lbs so I'm not talking about little 120lb whitetails like my home state.

    Thanks!

For deer strikes (or other front end collisions), RANCH HAND would be my choice.

    From Ranch Hand customers:

    1. I was heading to the Jackson Hole hill climbs and about 8:30 A.M. we were surprised as we come around a corner to about 6 deer that came running out in front of me but I was not about to let them all pile up on the side of my truck so I decided to take one deer out instead of 6 and I was doing about 75 and I could shut it down so I took out a doe and the pictures don't give it all the justice of the graphic blood that was everywhere but my point is that I am 110% pleased with my full replacement ranch hand bumper!! The only damage to the bumper is the mesh on the passenger side of the fog light got pushed in!

    upload_2021-9-8_11-43-41.jpg

    2. I bought a 2013 RAM 2500 exactly 3 weeks ago today and it was equipped with A Legend front and rear bumper. This morning I hit a deer on my way to work cruising at 74. The bumper saved my front end and

    3. Have a Ranch Hand full bumper on our 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. Tuesday morning around 6:30am I hit 2 whitetail doe at 72 mph. Only damage was the lower center screen/ tag mount broke. Thank you for making a great bumper. It saved our truck. Ruined my OSU eat beef tag, lol. This is the second time in 3 weeks I've hit a deer with this bumper. I have more pictures, but they are a little messy. Very happy with this product. Tim

    4. Deer number 8 I've hit with my Ranch Hand Bumper. Great big buck at 55 miles an hour.

    5. Just want to say thank you guys for making a quality product for my Chevrolet. Your front bumper saved my truck today and a possible wreck. I hit this 9 point square on going 65 mph and there wasn’t a scratch on the bumper. Thank you guys again! -Jd

    6. F-250. Couple of days after it was installed I hit a deer going about 50 mph. There is zero damage to the truck or the bumper. I depend on my truck for my business and because of your product I am not without my truck

    7. Hey Ranch Hand, I purchased a grill guard for my Son’s truck as a Christmas present in 2017 for his '05 Silverado. Unfortunately, yesterday he was in a front-end collision. I just wanted to send you a photo because we were very impressed that the FRAME of the truck bent, but the Ranch Hand really didn’t. That’s some good engineering, excellent welds, and quality materials.

    8. I hit a deer and the Ranch Hand front bumper did not move. Unfortunately the deer got into the fender and door. If I had hit the deer on the bumper only I would not have even had a scratch…

    9. We were involved in a motor vehicle accident on Jan 30, 2016. The fire department, ambulance personnel and law enforcement all agreed that the ranch hand bumper protected us from serious injury. They couldn't believe how much impact it took and still was intact.

    10. I was driving to work around 5 am in my F-350, the moon was almost full and lit up everything. I'm always cautious for deer living out in the sticks and such. I was coming up on a car headed my way so I dimmed my lights and right as the car comes by me a I see the deer at full run I didn't even have time to slow down I was rolling 65 mph. I pulled over hoping my truck was ok to find nothing wrong with my truck other than some blood and hair down the passenger side. I strongly recommend a ranch hand to anyone I know, I got to work and told the story and people just couldn't believe it with all the blood and hair and not so much as a scratch to my truck.

One of the testimonials on the Ranch Hand webpage describes hitting a cow at speed. Several discussing elk.

If you're into the particulars, ARB is the only bumper that is tested against animal strikes (kangaroos in Australia) and legally compatible with your airbag system. Others will work as described above, just an FYI.

I hit a deer going 100 kph with my Tacoma and ARB bumper. It did exactly what it was designed to and pushed the animal down and under the truck.

Damage? Cracked turn signal lens that ARB replaced for free and $2 to power wash the blood and hair.

    Very nice, thanks.
Anyone installed one of those on a tundra? Apparently it isn't a bolt on and you have to cut the fenders and grill

In TX, check out your local Shrockworks...I have one in my 4runner and it is great against elk, cows, and dummies! They're supposedly making stuff for tundras...based outta Houston, check 'em out!

Never seen the Shrockworks bumper for the Tundra in person but the Taco ones are awesome. Very well built.

I have the CBI Offroad Baja bumper, I'd hate to be a deer and get hit by it. CBI also makes the same bumper with a full grill gaurd, my parking sensors still work and my TSS sensor still works with the Limited grill.

ARB is definitely a PITA to install but well worth the effort. I feel like the chances of getting home after an animal strike are pretty good. I also liked the look better than the ranch hand.

    ARB!

Had an ARB on my FJ80 Land Cruiser. Hit a large male deer going about 70 mph. Couldn’t even figure out where he hit the bumper. Made me a believer.

Then… recently involved in head on collision. Guy fell asleep and hit us head on two lane highway going about 55mph. Totaled the Cruiser, but my wife and I walked away. Two state troopers said our ARB bumper “probably saved our lives.”

I’m putting one on my brand new 2021 Tundra as soon as my ARB order comes in!

For those who are curious, the weight of an ARB bumper without a winch is about 210 lbs.

From memory only, the total weight of removed OEM components (bumper with chrome end caps, crash bar, etc) is about 110 lbs. Hoping someone can validate that number - I know it was posted in a thread here somewhere but I could not find it.

The both will work fine. Both have a great reputation. OP's original post was functional based.

ARB may be the prettier of the two, but aesthetics aside doesn't look like any specific advantage when it comes to deer strikes, of the ARB vs Ranch Hand.

There is however, a decent price difference.

    upload_2021-9-13_8-21-15.jpg

Virtually all the oil field trucks I see in MT, WY, ND have Ranch Hand bumpers. I love the looks of ARB, but functionality is a wash and $$ wise depends on how much one wants to spend.
