I got stuck again without tow hook. I have contacted Toyota Canada and my dealer multiple time and every time I get a response that I should not need tow hook.

I'm now looking at maybe lifting up the truck to install the afe towhook, I some how don't believe they work well on stock truck other wise the compagnie would be making video with a none modified truck.

Next option would be to change the front bumper.

Not sure what is the less expensive way to fit this. I need recovery point on the truck. big fail from toyota.

If you get stuck often then I would go with a new front bumper with integrated hooks.

I've installed the AFE front tow hooks on mine. Paid about $165 I believe and easy to install following instructions. You can see them in red.

some how don't trust the departure angle. I have a Off road trim. In theory it has more clearance and event there I don't trust it.

Unfortunately, there's not enough market in Canuckistan to support a robust aftermarket industry for Toyota specific off road parts. :(

How close do you live to the border? One option is to ship to a package receiving depot on the free side of the line, go across and bring it back yourself. CBI products are made in the USA so the duty shouldn't be too bad. The taxes are the bugger to get around though.

Ouch. Did you have it shipped UPS and get hit with their "brokerage fees"? That's where alot of Canucks get hit. UPS is a scam and can fuck off. Always ship cross border with USPS, they hand off to Canada Post and there's no bullshit brokerage fees.

I just used this duty/tax estimator. Bringing a CBI Covert Bumper across the line myself would cost me roughly $65 in tax, since it's made in the US thus no duty owed. Shipping to Canuckistan is expensive, thus why I recommend shipping to a depot south of the border.

Order it and ship to your US installer. Drive across the border and have it installed in the States.

Weird. Was it the shipping that drove the price up?

It's now the USMCA. It's never really been free trade anyways. I dunno how it is for you guys bringing stuff out of Canada, but for us to bring virtually anything into the homeland the gubermint needs their extortion money.

This might be a little bit of an odd question, but I'm looking to purchase the lower sway bar retainer brackets from someone who installed the AFE tow hooks on their truck and removed the original brackets. I did the same on my truck last month, but my truck is now being repurchased by Toyota and I need to remove my aftermarket tow hooks. If anyone has these available, I'd love to buy them from you! Please feel free to message me.

Anyone tried afe recovery hocks? what's the status with bumper clearance? My concern is that if you use them, then front bumper will be damaged!!

Following this one. I too am concerned with not having recovery points. I'll probably end up replacing the bumper at some point and will likely just install the AFEs in the interim. How do folks feel about deleting the active spoiler? I haven't dug into the benefits of having the spoiler working, but it must provide something!

    Thanks
    Willy

Looks like they are on sale for 199 for the hooks, without the hybrid bumper. Pretty good price point

Look great - looking forward to seeing these in real life. Been toying with the covert bumper, but don't really NEED the winch location. This looks like a good alternative for those who don't want to go the winch route.

Does this setup have any impact to a light bar in the bumper (between fog lights).
