Hello Folks! For those of you who have upgraded your mirrors to the towing mirrors that I see everyone doing; what are they going with? (brand, etc..) Are they pulling them off other trucks, or buying them aftermarket?

    TIA!

Its a first-gen sliding TracRac with cantilever that I had powder coated black. Second gen cantilever doesnt line up with racks (sits about 1.25” higher) and wouldnt have worked for what I use mine for. First gen system you can get rails with a third track on them to accept a tonneau cover but only the velcro fruit-roll-up types. The racks are narrower at the top so those tri-fold/solid covers wont work.
    ED0C43C3-C8E7-4D36-A35B-ACF241077210.jpg

Thule makes racks with straight uprights that’ll allow those types of covers between them if I remember correctly, which I usually dont.

I went boost GM style. I had a duramax prior to this truck so I had an affinity for the GM style mirrors. I like them. Been in the truck for several years. I didn’t get the power fold option and don’t regret it. If I need to fold them in I just do it manually. Usually they get folded in for me by tree branches on the trail or brushes in the car wash. They’ve held up well and I can see nicely when towing.

I am considering going back to the stock mirrors, though. With the family growing we’ll probably get an expedition for the primary TT tow rig. Without the necessity for the tow mirrors on the tundra I’d like the smaller footprint of stock mirrors for off roading and trail driving.

if you’re not towing all the time I’d say you could get away with regular mirrors, especially, if it’s not a TT you’re towing.

I love my tow mirrors even when I'm not towing but I don't off road and they can be a hassle in tight parkades. I don't have power fold either but it's quick and easy to flip them in when parked in a tight area.

I knew I'd regret not doing the power fold so I winced when I paid but now it's all smiles

Well... since this is becoming a Boost party

I too went Boost since they offer the ability to add power folding with the harnesses. Both Toyota and 4wheelparts told me they couldn't add powerfolding to my truck (I could have just talked with incompetent folks) but Boost had good reviews and if you catch them on sale, its easier to justify all the options. Benefit of powerfolding, if leaving a parking garage or in a tight space you can fold both in without leaving your seat. These definitely stick out more than I fully realized and I've utilized the power fold function a lot more than I initially expected.

I have a 2023 Capstone and wanted the stock tow mirrors. On the Toyota site you can build a Tundra with tow mirrors but in my case, Gulf States doesn't offer this. Does anyone have any insight on this. This truck comes with all these towing upgrades except for the mirrors.

I went with OEM, but there are just as good aftermarket options.

I guess I should have added that going with an aftermarket towing mirror I would also sacrifice the blind spot monitor and the panoramic view monitor. These cameras are mounted on the mirrors. Does anyone have a part number for the mirrors on the Toyota website for the 2023 trucks?

I bought a set of OEM aftermarket brand new from a seller on eBay. They take a bit to get used to using, but it has helped when towing my TT.

I went with Boost Auto parts mirrors too. They’re great I have the high intensity LED’s and it makes backing up in the dark much easier.

I reinstalled my BAP mirrors last weekend as towing season is nearly upon us. The intermittent BSM/RCTA error warnings have returned. I need to reach out to BAP and see if they have any ideas/solutions. Their customer support has been fantastic in the past, so hopefully they can help with this issue.
