I have a 2021 4 x 4 tundra and want to buy a b & w adjustable hitch and my question is will 5.5”drop hitch accommodate most trailers and boats or should I go with there 7” drop. I just didn’t want extra long hitch if I didn’t need it.

Measure what you're towing from the ground to the middle of the hitch with it level, measure from the ground to the middle of your receiver and subtract 5.5" Should be close to your first measurement.

That will get you in the ball park

I have a 2" forged drop hitch with a 3/1 lift and it has fit everything great.

Like rockmup suggested, measure what you'll tow first. The receiver sits low on my pretty much stock 2016 Tundra 4x4. I use a no drop hitch. The last few trips I've had quite a bit of weight in the bed and had to flipped the hitch over so it's upside down so the trailer didn't sit nose down. Maybe a 1-2" drop is probably all you'll need if you're not carrying anything in the bed.

I bought the B&W this week and was unsure about the drop myself.

Now that I have the 5” I can see that the 7” might drag on curbs and driveways really anyway so.....
    I Am happy now!

Also most of what I tow will be fine within the 5" drop/Rise

Stock height and 2" is perfect for my janky old tent trailer with about 400# tongue weight.

echo this. i have a 6" lift and put a big 7" drop kit on because i measured it with my most commonly used trailer to make sure it was level.
