So, I wanted to post a quick weight difference between a set of tires that came off my truck, and the set that went on. I know for me, rotational weight means something. I don't necessarily want to sacrifice functionality and MPG for just aesthetics alone.

When I bought the truck, it had a set of Pirelli Scorpion ATR 275/55 r20 (Platinum wheel) on it. Have these have been a great tire for me, but I was wanting something a little more aggressive, but did not want to add a bunch more rotational weight.

I ended up settling on a set of Icon Dynamics Six Speed wheels in the 17in. Per Icon Dynamics, the weight of each wheel comes in at 30 lb. The best I could tell from what I could find on my pirelli's including the weight of the wheel came in right around 80 lb. This was my mark to shoot for. I look at a multitude of tires in the size that I wanted, specifically C load rating as I don't do anything heavy duty, light off-roading on our property, trails here in the mountains of TN, and occasionally pulling the boat for the summer.

I decided on 285/75 r17 from Toyo Open Country AT3 in C load rating. All in all, I think I hit the mark pretty close as the Toyos came in at 85.5 lb per wheel, the Pirelli's at 79.4 lb. The gap would be a little bit closer if these were unused, ~1lb? So for the difference of 6 lb, effectively only raised my overall rotational weight 6.9%!!!

A lot of this probably doesn't mean much to you anybody else, but for the past several weeks, I have noticed no difference behind the pedal, negligible if any difference in MPG, no difference in road noise, overall handling feels improved (I realize the last one could be a bit subjective).

Except for anyone else out there on the neurotic hunt for that weight / size /aesthetics spectrum, maybe you can take away something from this. Cheers!

    Looks good!

I am thinking about a similar setup, looking at the 35x11.5 r17 AT3 in C load.

I’ve run the AT3s in 285/70/17 and 275/65/18 and have been great!

Your truck looks way more than 6.9% more awesome!

Yeah, so I have Bilstein 6112 up front and 5160s in the back. Overall lift is a a hair under 3 in. No rubbing at all at full lock forward or backward

I’m running the TRD Pro Fox setup, so I’m hoping they’ll clear. I’ll post when I get them on.

I feel like 38 PSI is sticking out, but can't remember offhand.

Looks great I am considering the same tire for my next setup. How does the C load ride compared to the stock setup? I currently have a set of e load tires that ride pretty rough (but they do look and perform awesome).

I have not noticed any adverse difference over my p rated tires. One advantage going to these that I noticed immediately was how much "grippier" they felt.

I should have gone with the Toyo's, instead I went with the Wildpeaks and they are heavy beasts. Nice looking truck.

I went with wildpeaks 285/70r17 on 17” method 313s. Wildpeaks are load range c and run 32psi. Have Fox Pro suspension. Loving it so far…for the couple hours I’ve had them on lol.

I love the AT3 tires on my truck. They are pretty quite on the highway and they look great. I am currently running 305/55/R20
